Casting News: Matthew McConaughey Sets True Detective Reunion, The Pitt Adds Season 2 Patient And More

Matthew McConaughey (True Detective) and Cole Hauser (Yellowstone) are making it a family affair on Netflix.

The actors will play brothers in a new series from True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which adds that Netflix won the project in a fierce bidding war against Apple TV+ and Prime Video.

Specific details about the series, including its title, are being kept under wraps. But considering it hails from Skydance Sports, it's being speculated that the show will have some sort of sports angle.

In other casting news...

* Zack Morris (Goosebumps) will recur in Season 2 of HBO Max's The Pitt, Deadline reports. Morris will play a patient named Jackson Davis, who is taken to the hospital after experiencing an uncontrollable outburst in his college library. Production on the medical drama's second season is currently underway.

* Four more actors have joined the cast of Fox's three-part limited series The Faithful, a Biblical drama based on the Book of Genesis, Deadline reports. Alexa Davalos (FBI: Most Wanted) will lead the second installment as Rebekah, with Tom Mison (Sleepy Hollow) as her husband Isaac, Tom Payne (The Walking Dead) as their son Jacob, and Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom) as their son Esau. The three-part event will air across three consecutive Sundays, beginning March 22.

* Singer Hayes Warner has joined the cast of FX's upcoming Ryan Murphy drama The Shards as a series regular, Deadline reports. Based on Bret Easton Ellis' 2023 novel of the same name, The Shards takes place at an elite Los Angeles prep school in 1981, where the arrival of a mysterious new student seems to be connected to the activities of a serial killer called The Trawler. Warner's character, Debbie Shaffer, is a wealthy prep school girl with all the right connections.
