Cancelled Shows 2018: The 10 Most Painful Cuts

lucifer series finale wtw

1. Lucifer

To be honest, we're still in a deep state of denial about this one. And we're going to remain in said state until Hulu or Netflix or DC Universe does the smart thing and acquires the Fox drama, which, for our money, still has a helluva lot of of life left in it. It also has helluva cliffhanger to resolve. And we have a helluva lot more hell puns to make.

Last Man on Earth

2. The Last Man on Earth

Are we bitter that Tim Allen's similarly-titled and far inferior sitcom gobbled up one of Fox's few live-action sitcom vacancies that should've gone to a fifth season of Will Forte's still-viable apocalyptic satire? Why, yes. Yes we are.

3. The Mick

We'll never know if Sabrina survived that lightning strike and we are not OK with it.

Great News - Season 2

4. Great News

There was nothing great about news of this series' axing, especially since — after two seasons and 23 episodes — Tina Fey's newsroom satire had finally become Must-See TV.

5. The Exorcist

It was the rare series that got even better — and, in this case, scarier — in Season 2. Friday nights will be a lot more boring without it.

JASON RITTER, KIMBERLY HEBERT GREGORY

6. Kevin (Probably) Saves the World

We'll mostly just miss seeing the ridiculously charming Jason Ritter on our TV every week.

Rise

7. Rise

Jason Katims' Friday Night Lights-set-to-music finally started to live up to its potential by the end of the season. But it was too little too late.

KIEFER SUTHERLAND

8. Designated Survivor

Make no mistake, Dez's transition from 24-style conspiracy thriller to second-generation photocopy of The West Wing was a wobbly one. But Season 2's final stretch of episodes, spiced up by the arrival of frenemy Ethan West (Michael J. Fox), set the stage for a re-election campaign we'll be sorry to miss.

scorpion season 4 finale

9. Scorpion

We're not devastated about Walter and Co.'s demise. But the show was diverting Monday-night comfort food. And gosh, darnit we'll miss it.

BLAIR UNDERWOOD, MARLEE MATLIN, PRIYANKA CHOPRA

10. Quantico

The Priyanka Chopra-fronted thriller was just settling into an entertaining Season 3 groove when ABC cancelled the series and banished it to Friday night. What was the point of even bringing it back in the first place?
