Arrow's Top 25 Fight Scenes Ever

As The CW's Arrow targets its series finale (airing Tuesday, Jan. 28), TVLine invites you to revisit 25 of the Arrowverse sire's best and most memorable fight scenes ever, listed chronologically by stunt coordinator-turned-producer and director James Bamford. (NOTE: Though Oliver-as-vigilante went by multiple names over the years, for the sake of simplicity these captions refer to him as "Arrow.")

5x08: The Queen Mansion Backyard Battle Royale

"We braved rain, powerful winds, and a tight crossover schedule to pull this off. It makes me smile every time I watch it."

5x01: Arrow vs. Anarky

"This episode-opener speaks for itself. The cinematography is lovely in this sequence. The ballet of camera and performance puts me in my happy place. Again, I'm wishing the audience was able to see the original uncut version before the episode was trimmed to broadcast time, but them's the breaks!"

4x07: Speedy vs. Andy Diggle — The Elevator Fight

"Obviously a favorite as this was my first complete episode of Arrow directed. It was also our first designed 'oner.' Although the whole length of the fight didn't make it in the finished product, I'm very happy with how it turned out."

3x09: Ra's al-Ghul vs. 10 of His Minions

"Multiple-opponent fights are always on my Favorites list, but this was really the first time we got to see this character show us his skills. I love this for its pure flow in motion."

3x07: Tatsu vs. Thugs on the Dock (Flashback Fight)

"Everyone loves a good sword fight, and that includes me. This has a lot of elements I enjoy in action — mainly, a skilled swordsperson brandishing a katana in the way only Rila Fukushima can."

2x23: Arrow vs. Deathstroke Past/Present Transition Fight

"This was just a good time putting together, rehearsing, and shooting all of the moving parts. I'm proud of the visual story told between these two opponents, past and present."

2x13: Nyssa al-Ghul vs. Customs Agents

"Intro fights are always special, as we are seeing what the character is capable of for the first time on-screen. This was no different, and we had the honor of working with Katrina Law for the first time, so there's that as an added plus. Utilizing improvised weapons was the highlight of the battle."

2x05: Sara/Arrow vs. the LOA in the Clocktower

"Sara is badass......There's so much going on in this fight with each character, it was a pleasure to shoot. Also, we shot this in a very short time-frame window, so I'm incredibly proud of what was accomplished given that restriction."

2x05: The Mansion Fight

"Oliver and Sara Lance versus the League of Assassins leader.... I loved the use of space, and improvised weapons, in this battle in the Queen Mansion. I'm always down to destroy a set given the opportunity!"

2x03: Canary vs. The Dollmaker

"I like Sara's 'silk' entrance and her skilled use of the staff.... I also really enjoyed Arrow's entrance and final takedown of The Dollmaker at the end of the battle."

1x23: Arrow vs. Merlyn

"The rooftop finale fight. I we shot this over the course of one single evening, and it was on the last shooting day of Season 1 so the energy on set was electric."

1x21: Arrow vs. Thugs, On a Mission to Rescue Walter Steele

"The 'Hallway Fight,' one of our original multiple-opponent fights with a lot going on, where Oliver takes down an army of attackers. I used only eight stunt attackers, and recycled them to have the appearance of 30, so we were quite happy with the visual illusion created. Arrow is in full force on this one."

1x05: Yao Fei vs. Deathstroke

"What can I say... but when these two characters appeared in the script, I got very excited to create a fight with their level of mastery."

Pilot: Arrow vs. Drakon in Adam Hunt's Office

"A classic, and our first fight choreographed with Stephen [Amell]. This brings back all the fond memories of our first training sessions together in the early days of pilot prep. The stuntman playing Drakon has since passed away, and was a friend to us all — Darren Shahlavi."

8x10 (Series Finale): Arrow vs. EVERYONE Flashback Fight

"This is probably the longest battle we've ever shot, and it was on the final episode of the show ever. I'm so very proud of Stephen, and the stunt team, for allowing me to finish the show with this gift of a sequence. What a wonderful ride it's been!"

8x01: Arrow vs. The Dark Archer Rooftop Revisit

"In recreating some of the favorite moments from the Season 1 finale fight, we were able to improve on it, and give it some extra flair. So proud of all involved."

7x16: Nyssa Trains Young Mia Montage

"Aside from getting to work with great committed performers like Kat [McNamara] and Katrina [Law], this has a special place in my heart for the simple reason that my 4-year-old (at the time) daughter in real life, Jade, got to play 6-year-old Mia in the first portion of the sequence, as I directed her. It's a treat I will never forget as long as I live."

6x10: Arrow vs. Diaz/Vigilante/Thugs in Warehouse 

"I love the energy in the camera work here in this oner.... We had a lot of fun shooting this sequence."

7x01: Oliver vs. Inmates in the Shower

"The challenge here was to not show too much of Oliver while engaged in mortal combat with countless enemies, and completely naked to boot. Stephen really enjoyed shooting this, and gave it his all — which made me enjoy it just as much."

7x07:Oliver and Ben Turner vs. 30-plus Inmates

"A multi-level technocrane oner. This was accomplished in an extremely short period of time with unbelievable results. which makes me very proud of all involved."

7x09: Arrow vs. Flash in the Arkham Hallucination

"It was a blast trading bodies with these characters (see separate GIF) as their minds played tricks on them over the course of this drug-induced scrap [in 'Elseeworlds' Part 2] — including a slick entrance of Batwoman at the end (above)."

7x22: Mia/Roy/Dinah/Alena/Connor vs. Zeta Soldiers

"The impact of some of these kicks was pure and real. The on-screen result was pure honesty in motion."

8x01: Arrow vs. The Hood in Science Lab at Queen/Merlyn

"The skill of the performances in this fight thrills me to no end."

8x01: Arrow vs. The Dark Archer (Tommy) in Merlyn's Office

"This being somewhat of a re-shoot/re-think of the original fight from Episode 1x22, I finally had the chance to shoot it the way (and more) that I originally intended for the scene, after not having the creative control of the director the first time around."

8x01: Arrow, Arrow, Spartan and Canary vs. Crack House Thugs

"Everyone knows that I love creating oners in the action, and this is a solid example of a couple of them connected to form a sequence. Our stunt/fight team out did themselves on this one, which only took under four hours to shoot."
