Kaitlin Olson

Fresh off filming It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's 12th season, Olson headlined Fox's The Mick, which now is midway through its sophomore run.

Christina Ochoa

With little more than a handful of Animal Kingdom and Matador appearances to her name, Ochoa stole the show as Blood Drive's badass, suffer-no-fools female lead. She followed up that summertime splatterfest with a lead role on The CW's Valor, while also making time for three more Animal Kingdom visits. 

Dominic Purcell

In addition to 20 episodes' worth of Legends of Tomorrow, Purcell also helped stage another Prison Break for Fox (which admittedly was filmed in 2016 — no time machine needed!).

And before you ask: Due to his reduced presence in the Arrowverse, Purcell's two-time costar Wentworth Miller didn't quite make this year's list.

Freddie Highmore

Bates Motel had barely closed the doors on its fifth and final season when the English actor scrubbed in as ABC's Good Doctor — fitting a Tour de Pharmacy amid it all.

Sterling K. Brown

One of 2016's MVVPs (Most Valuable Valuable Players), Brown "took it easy" this year, adding to 18 episodes of This Is Us "just" a couple of Insecure appearances. 

Andrea Martin

The funny business was booming for the veteran actress, who helped deliver Great News, hang with other Difficult People, visited Kimmy Schmidt and even put up The Good Fight.

Andrea Savage

Nipping at the aforementioned Andrea's heels, Savage added to her recurring gigs on Episodes, Veep and iZombie a full-fledged starring role on truTV's I'm Sorry (and a Curb visit, to boot).

Scoot McNairy

After powering down Halt and Catch Fire, McNairy paid a fleeting (and brutally truncated) visit to Fargo, before being appointed sheriff of a Godless town.

Tyler Posey

As Teen Wolf let loose with its final howls, Posey sank his teeth into something quite different, as a blast from Jane the Virgin's romantic-comedic past.

Amy Sedaris

The funny lady capped a year already loaded with gigs on BoJack Horseman, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Difficult People by headlining a Martha Stewart send-up, truTV's At Home With Amy Sedaris.

Sam Richardson

Veep's righthand man got voted up to lead status as one of Comedy Central's Detroiters, while also making time for a stop in Portlandia.

Adam Scott

Big Little Lies' main man subsequently scared up a lead role on Fox's Ghosted, while also enjoying a Wet Hot American Summer (thanks to Bradley Cooper's own busy schedule) and appearances on The Good Place and Veep.

Carrie Coon

What she might lack in quantity — appearing on "just" two shows (The Leftovers and Fargo) totaling 16 episodes — she more than made up for in quality, delivering a pair of performances so stellar, the mainstream awards biz barely knew how to acknowledge her.

Elisabeth Moss

On par with Carrie Coon's premium-cable prominence, Moss was instrumental in telling The Handmaid's Tale, while also returning to the Top of the Lake for Season 2.

Santiago Cabrera

Hot off his torrid affair on Big Little Lies, Cabrera landed a role as one of Salvation's core four, on CBS' latest bit of summertime escapist fare.

Inbar Lavi

A benefactor of timing a la Dominic Purcell, Lavi found her Prison Break role airing almost concurrently with her starring turn on Bravo's Imposters.

Nicholas Gonzalez

Pretty Little Liars + How to Get Away With Murder + Being Mary Jane + The Good Doctor = constant work for Gonzalez.

Billy Eichner

When not "on the street," Eichner added to his Difficult People workload no less than two new scripted shows — American Horror Story: Cult and Friends From College — plus some more Bob's Burgers voice work.

Fred Armisen

One of the year's "can't miss" utility players — meaning, it's near-impossible to miss him when flipping the dial — he added to his Portlandia workload a series of one-offs (on Last Man in Earth, Son of Zorn, Kimmy Schmidt and Lady Dynamite), capped by an appearance on A Christmas Story Live.

Ted Danson

When he wasn't lording over The Good Place, Danson was on Cheryl Hines' arm, playing himself, in a series of Curb Your Enthusiasm appearances.

Patrick Fischler

This year's Honorable Mention for Utter Ubiquity capped a succession of appearances on Doubt, Rosewood, Scorpion, Once Upon a Time, Code Black, Kingdom, Twin Peaks and Dice (whatever that is) with one of his meatier gigs in a while, on Syfy's newly released Happy! (Better luck next year, David Dastmalchian!)

Stephen Tobolowsky

In addition to his series regular gig on One Day at a Time, the character actor played a significant role on Silicon Valley while also recurring on The Goldbergs and White Famous.

David Boreanaz

Unarguably TV's rock-steadiest primetime eployee, DB let zero grass grown under his feet after Bones bid us adieu, but instead enlisted right away to lead CBS' SEAL Team. 

Christopher Meloni

On the heels of another Wet Hot American Summer and what would be Underground's final season, the SVU vet found a new starring vehicle, teaming up with an imaginary purple horse named Happy!

Lexa Doig

When not firing Cupid's arrow (or a suspect facsimile thereof) as a self-help guru on The Arrangement, Doig was battling Green Arrow as Talia al Ghul.

Adina Porter
