PERCENT OF FRESHMAN SHOWS AXED

Of those that have met a certain fate, 51 percent of the series that debuted during the 2017-18 TV season will not be back for an encore — a slight improvement over the previous TV season, when 54 percent of freshmen flunked. Of this year's one-and-done casualties, 65 percent were hour-long dramas (matching last year's ratio).

KYRA SEDGWICK

QUICKEST CUT

Going by the calendar, ABC's Ten Days in the Valley was the first new show to get bad news, when after four low-rated airings it got banished to Saturday nights (though it did unceremoniously complete its run).

SHORTEST RUN

Me, Myself & I lasted two episodes for each of its timelines, pulled from CBS' schedule — never to (not) be seen again — after six airings.

EDEN SHER, PATRICIA HEATON

LONGEST-RUNNING CANCELLATION

Ending on its own terms, ABC's The Middle will have aired 215 episodes at the time that its farewell season closes on Tuesday, May 22. Once Upon a Time's final season, announced in February, in turn brought its episode count to 155.

I Hardly Recognized You

LOWEST-RATED RENEWAL

Despite averaging a 0.18 in the demo (to go with its 700,000 total viewers), Dynasty will soap back up for Season 2 on The CW.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, meanwhile, repeats as the least watched renewal, having averaged 631,000 viewers.

ELIZABETH HENSTRIDGE, IAIN DE CAESTECKER

LOWEST-RATED RENEWAL (NON-CW)

ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. earned an 11th-hour reprieve despite averaging barely a 0.5 demo rating. (Hello, new summer time slot!)

In total audience — and NBC rescue notwithstanding — Fox's Brooklyn Nine-Nine was the least-watched Big 4 cancellation, with just 1.77 million viewers.

HIGHEST-RATED CANCELLATION

Again, ending on its own terms, The Middle leaves us as ABC's No. 5-rated sitcom, touting a 1.4 demo rating. Of the truly cancelled, though, CBS' Kevin Can Wait was the highest-rated, averaging a 1.2 with its Season 2 revamp.

In total viewers, meanwhile, CBS' embattled Wisdom of the Crowd left the largest audience on the table: 7 million.

MOST-DISCUSSED CANCELLATION

TVLine's original reporting of Lucifer's date with the reaper drew 744 comments. (If only 78 of you had held back, 'twould have been quite fitting! #DoTheMath)

On the flipside, news that ABC's Alex, Inc. existed was ending generated fewer than 20 comments.

THE COMEBACK KID

Following in the footsteps of last year's Timeless, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was dispatched by Fox... and then rescued by NBC, some 31 hours later.

Reverie - Season Pilot

SHOWS THAT HAVEN'T PREMIERED YET, ONE YEAR LATER

Of the 40-ish new shows announced at last year's network Upfronts, three have yet to see the light of day, and they're all from NBC: The Sarah Shahi-starring Reverie arrives Wednesday, May 30; Making It fka The Handmade Project, hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, premieres July 31; while Chris Hardwick's The Awesome Show remains a not-so-awesome "TBD" (if it even still exists at all!).

LEA MICHELE, BRANDON MICHEAL HALL

NOT-SO-EASY AS ABC

The Alphabet network had the worst batting average this TV season, with just 36 percent of its freshman shows living to see a Season 2. (Maybe it's time for ABC to once and for all give up on the Undoubtedly Doomed Midseason Genre Show?)

Fox, meanwhile, is currently 4-for-4 with freshman launches, pending the outcomes for Ghosted and LA to Vegas.
