Cancelled Or Not? 9 Shows On The Bubble

Arrested Development

STATUS: The final eight episodes of the critically drubbed Season 5 are slated to drop on Netflix in early 2019, and the odds of the streamer ordering a sixth season (particularly in the wake of that disastrous New York Times piece) are slim to zero. "I've learned to say 'Never say never,' co-star David Cross recently remarked, "but I can't see it happening again, I think for a number of reasons."

Code Black

STATUS: Last August, CBS president Kelly Kahl confirmed that the cancelled drama had regained a faint pulse, telling reporters at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, "We'd like to figure out a way to maybe" bring it back for a fourth season. But it's been radio silence since. On the actions-speak-louder-than-words front, several of the medical drama's cast members — namely Rob Lowe, Boris Kodjoe and Luis Guzmán — have moved on to new gigs. 

UPDATE: CBS has officially passed on ordering a fourth season.

Daredevil

STATUS: With Netflix cancelling Marvel shows left and right (R.I.P., Luke Cage and Iron Fist), the fate of its flagship Defender is precarious at best. Officially, a rep for the streamer tells TVLine that no decision has been made about a potential fourth season. Unofficially, we're concerned. 

UPDATE: Netflix confirmed Daredevil's cancellation on Nov. 29.

Fuller House

STATUS: The fourth and (as we recently reported) likely final season bows Friday, Dec. 14. And while Netflix continues to maintain that "no decision has been made about the future" of the show, all signs point to the end being nigh (aka Dec. 14).

I Feel Bad

STATUS: NBC's decision to forego a Season 1 back order for  the low-rated freshman sitcom pretty much sealed the series' already dismal-looking fate. 

Modern Family

STATUS: Despite speculation that the sitcom's current 10th season would be its last, talks are underway between ABC and producer 20th Century Fox about a possible 11th (and likely final) season. Back in August, ABC's then-president Channing Dungey told Deadline, "I think that there is a sense that we all would like to do one more season if we can find a way for a deal that makes sense."

Scream

STATUS: Season 3 of the significantly retooled/recast MTV drama — now starring Keke Palmer (Scream Queens) and Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) — has been sitting on the shelf for what feels like forever, leading some (read: me) to wonder if it's destined to follow in Heathers' footsteps and get quickly/quietly burned off. 

The Sinner

STATUS: Ratings-wise, the Carrie Coon-fronted second season — which concluded in September — didn't fare nearly as well as the Jessica Biel-headlined first. Still, an insider says a third season remains under consideration at USA Network. 

Humans

STATUS: Season 3 concluded over the summer and it's been [crickets] since then, although Humans co-creator Sam Vincent confirmed in August on BBC Radio that talks about a possible Season 4 were "rumbling on," acknowledging, somewhat ominously, that "there [are] so many moving parts to these kind of decisions."
