Scandal Pilot: 15 Major Moments To Remember

I'm not going to lie, I had to look up Henry Ian Cusick's character's name — and I never would have guessed it was Stephen Finch.

Also, in the interest of not lying — I was prepared to be like, "Whoa! Look at that pilot hair!" But apparently Olivia Pope's tresses have always been perfection.

Abby describes OPA's mission as "managing crises and saving reputations," which is funny, because it's pretty much the exact opposite these days.

Now, it's pretty much just a boardroom full of monsters.

Wow. I don't know what's weirder — hearing someone praise Fitz and Mellie's marriage... or realizing that there was a time when Cyrus actually didn't know something.

Seeing Olivia and Mellie as gal pals ("How are the kids?" / "Are you dating anyone?") is also kind of unnerving, though it's fun to think they've actually come full circle in their frenemy-ship.

Speaking of being in the dark, when Fitz first tells Olivia, "You know there's only one person I love," can you believe we didn't know who he was really talking about?!

And now, a moment of silence for the first time America was told, "It's handled."

Given what an erratic man-child he's become, it's amazing to me that Huck goes the entire pilot without freaking out or stabbing anyone. In fact, his only big speech is a pep talk to Quinn!

(I did, however, enjoy him telling her, "No crying. We don't cry. Ever." Yeah, so much for that rule.)

Confession: I don't remember Fitz and Olivia's encounter in the Oval Office being this... let's say, aggressive? And I definitely don't remember her saying, "Please don't touch me" several times.

(Fitz is kind of a garbage monster, huh?)

Also, Cyrus' face when he discovers Fitz and Liv's affair = America's face when we discover Fitz and Liv's affair.

For the record, this is the face of a woman who just heard Olivia Pope's name spoken out loud for the first time.

OK, let's start with what we don't see in the pilot: either of these two now-key players. (In fact, it would be another season-and-a-half before we even catch a glimpse of them.)

And then there are those who were key players... and are now literally never spoken of.

It's also funny that Abby doesn't want to take this first case because she hates Republicans. (Oh, Red, you're about to be swimming in them.)
