Schitt's Creek's Penultimate Episode
Although it's next week's series finale of Schitt's Creek that's titled "Happy Ending," the beloved Pop comedy handed one out to several characters — actually, pretty much everybody — in its penultimate episode, "Start Spreading the News."

Johnny and Moira
Though the episode began with the Roses preparing to move to New York, with Johnny even reassuring Mora that he had "no doubt Broadway will be calling... or maybe a pledge drive on PBS," their plans changed when she learned that Sunrise Bay had caved to her demands — all of them, even the tennis bracelet. So, instead of embarking on a long-distance marriage while his wife worked in L.A., Johnny decided to go West, too. Grade: A

David and Patrick
Upon learning that Patrick had inquired about a house in Schitt's Creek just because his future husband had once said it reminded him of Kate Winslet's cottage in The Holiday, David was forced to question his motives for moving back to New York. He wanted his old "friends" to "know I'm not a joke," he tearfully admitted to Stevie. "I won." But c'mon, he had someone in his life who'd try to buy him a flippin' house just because he'd said he liked it; he didn't need to prove anything to anybody. So he made an offer on the place himself. When he told Patrick, his groom promised to make him not just happy but so happy in Schitt's Creek. "You f—ing better," David replied. Perfect. Grade: A

Roland and Jocelyn
Though the Schitts would be remaining in their hometown, they'd clearly be living larger than they ever had. Not only was Johnny and Stevie's business partner tooling around in a new pickup truck, his missus had been to the spa for a pedicure and blowout — "at the same time!" she excitedly noted. Grade: B

Twyla
After our favorite waitress revealed to Alexis that she'd won a whopping $46M in the lottery a few years ago, her pal encouraged her to buy something that would make her smile. So she purchased the Café Tropical and planned to rename it Twyla's Café Tropical. Not just Twyla's Café? Nope. Definitely Twyla's Café Tropical, she said. Grade: C (if only because that outta-nowhere windfall gave us flashbacks to Season 9 of Roseanne)

Alexis
The Interflix darling took in relative stride the news that neither her parents nor her brother would be moving to Manhattan. "I'm gonna be flying solo to New York," said the wannabe Lizzie Grubman. No big deal. "I've done it before, and I can do it again." We absolutely believe her. Grade: A

Stevie
The budding mogul was going to be staying in Schitt's Creek but traveling around a lot to handle the upgrades of the new Rosebud Motels. She didn't really want to live a big city, she told David. "I guess I just needed to know that I could." Grade: B (for an arc that ended where it began)
