Shadowhunters Season 4 Storylines

LUKE WHO'S BACK!
"Luke would have returned to the Institute in Season 4, which would have led to a whole shake-up," Slavkin says. "It would have been great. He'd be interacting with everyone, much more a part of it all. There was a nice arc about him going back to being a Shadowhunter."

HOME SWEET HELL
Magnus still would have proposed to Alec and left for Edom at the end of Season 3, but his rescue mission would have been extended considerably. "Everyone going to Edom to save Magnus was going to be a multi-episode journey in Season 4," Swimmer says. (Just saying, Magnus does look pretty good on that throne.)

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN...
Had Shadowhunters gotten a fourth season, the Seelie Queen would not have been killed off so quickly. "In the books, she had this real lasting relationship with Jonathan — this kind of perverse, sexualized relationship," Slavkin says. "That's why we made the queen older this season, because we knew where we wanted to go. Their relationship would have been a half-season arc, the 10 episodes that made up Season 4A."

THE NEXT GREAT ROMANCE
The co-showrunners had "a lot of plans" for Helen and Aline, both as a couple ("those actresses have such great chemistry") and as individuals. "Helen is the oldest of four kids," Slavkin says. "She has a whole group of brothers and sisters we could have met."

...AND HER KING?
Jonathan, of course, would also have lived to see Season 4. "His metamorphosis would have lasted much longer," Slavkin says. "We really compressed that for the finale."

AND THE OTHER QUEEN!
Again, if Season 3 ended with Izzy gaining the powers of heavenly fire, Lilith would have lived to see Season 4 — at least the beginning of it.
