GREYS-MA

Michael Ausiello's Wish:

That Grey's Anatomy lures Katherine Heigl back later this season — even for just one episode — to bring closure to the Alex/Izzie storyline.

SONS-MWM

Matt Mitovich's Wish:

That the Emmy nominations (to be announced July 19) get it right where the SAG Awards and Golden Globes thus far have gotten it wrong, by assigning proper recognition to Sons of Anarchy and some of its cast, any of Breaking Bad's supporting players and, on the comedy side, the forever-innovative Community.

DWTS-MS

Michael Slezak's Wish:

That networks will realize less can be more when it comes to reality television. I'm not advocating that programmers start slashing their reality slates — except for maybe Lifetime's Dance Moms — but it's high time they realized not every episode of every series requires a two-hour running time.

COMMUNITY-MM

Meg Masters' Wish:

That Community's hiatus is cut short when [Insert Far-Less Superior Sitcom Name Here] under-performs. And when Greendale is back in session, it will hopefully enjoy a ratings-rich return. (That's our chosen timeline, at least.)

GOSSIP-VG

Vlada Gelman's Wish:

That the old Blair will return to Gossip Girl. For much of Season 5, Blair has been defined by the men in her life. Where is the girl who had ambitions of her own? Blair once dreamed of becoming a powerful woman in her own right, and I miss that girl. I miss her power. I miss her scheming. I even miss her headbands.

GOSSIP-MA

Michael Ausiello's Wish:

That Gossip Girl stops being polite and starts getting real with a Dan and Blair romance.

FRINGE-MWM

Matt Mitovich's Wish:

That ratings-challenged Fringe gets word on its Season 5 fate sooner rather than later, so that if need be the showrunners can compose an appropriate (and undoubtedly mind-frying) swan song.

X-MS

Michael Slezak's Wish:

That TV's singing competitions nab bigger, more inventive lists of cleared songs. When Melanie Amaro belted "Man in the Mirror" during Top 11 week of The X Factor, she completed a trifecta of reality-TV vocalists — along with American Idol's Jacob Lusk and The Voice's Javier Colon — who'd tackled Michael Jackson's inspirational staple in 2011. We wouldn't accept the same punch lines getting perpetually passed among Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, and 30 Rock, so why do we accept redundancy from our singing competitions?

AMC-MM

Meg Masters' Wish:

That the Soap Gods — or some other higher power, like La Lucci! — track down and release the original, "beautiful" ending to All My Children's series finale, the one where we get actual closure and not just J.R.'s phantom gunshot.

TVD-VG

Vlada Gelman's Wish:

That someone takes Elijah's dagger out! He has been MIA from The Vampire Diaries for far too long. (No, that brief glimpse of him during the Originals flashback episode doesn't count.) Klaus is a great villain, and Rebekah has turned out to be an entertaining and sympathetic character – take out her dagger, too, while you're at it – but there's no Original like Elijah.

COUGAR-MA

Michael Ausiello's Wish:

That Cougar Town's ratings exceed expectations when it finally returns this winter/spring.

SMASH-MWM

Matt Mitovich's Wish:

That NBC's musically delicious Smash opens well and promptly fulfills the promise it displayed when I first watched the pilot back in June. Similarly, I want NBC to get Jason Isaacs' Awake on its schedule, though not if rushing it will compromise the quality — the intense, intricately plotted pilot is undoubtedly a tough act to follow.

DEXTER-MM

Meg Masters' Wish:

That Dexter's seventh season ditches the (adoptive) siblings-in-love thing, and instead delves deep into Deb's realization of who her brother actually is. (Bonus points if she welcomes Dex's Dark Passenger with open arms!)

FNL-VG

Vlada Gelman's Wish:

That the Friday Night Lights movie happens. Despite the series' deeply satisfying finale, I can't help hoping that the Taylors make it to the movie theater. Who wouldn't want to spend more time in Dillon, even if it's just for two hours?

ABBEY-MA

Michael Ausiello's Wish:

That the stars never align for soul mates Mary and Matthew on Downton Abbey. Unrequited love has never been so romantic and satisfying.

2BG-MWM

Matt Mitovich's Wish:

Get out of the diner, you otherwise delightful Broke Girls. Or, at least get Oleg an extreme makeover and install Max's worst nightmare — a handsome hipster — as the new manager.

ABRAMS-MS

Michael Slezak's Wish:

That J.J. Abrams creates a new series for three of his all-time greatest leading ladies: Felicity's Keri Russell, Alias' Jennifer Garner, and Lost's Elizabeth Mitchell. We don't care if it's a family drama, an action vehicle, or a single-camera sitcom, but Abrams needs to use his holiday break to pen a pilot for these women — and then let the bidding war commence.

ARRESTED-MM

Meg Masters' Wish:

That Netflix's Arrested Development reboot makes it to air long before its expected 2013 premiere date, and that the official official word comes down that the big screen adaptation is really, truly on its way.

BERICA-VG

Vlada Gelman's Wish:

That Being Erica finds a U.S. home. It's the best Canadian TV show you probably aren't watching, and for its first three seasons, the fantastical but extremely relatable series has enjoyed a run on SOAPnet (and Hulu, where it's still up). But with SOAPnet set to shut down sometime in 2012, there are currently no plans to run the fourth and most likely final season of this hidden gem in the States, even though it recently wrapped its run in Canada.
