3. BROTHERLY LOVE While we’d never pass up a good Salvatore snark-fest, we’ve always felt Damon and Stefan are at their best when they’re bonding as brothers. With the arrival of a common enemy (the Heretics!) and the removal of their greatest source of conflict (sorry, Elena!), now seems like the perfect time for a Defan renaissance.

1. GET IT TOGETHER, STEROLINE! We can appreciate a good slow burn, but Caroline and Stefan’s romance has been simmering since Season 2. We didn’t even know wicks could burn that slowly! So all we want in Season 7 is for the duo to finally DTR (aka “define their relationship”). If Caroline loves him back, let her tell him; if she doesn’t, let her end things for good. We can’t handle all this back-and-forth! (Also, if we get a second wish, it’s for her to love him back.)

2. BADASS BONNIE Not a single character would still be alive on this show if Bonnie hadn’t intervened at one point or another, cementing her as the most important player on Team TVD. For the first time in years, she’s starting a season in a good place — she’s alive and in the correct dimension — so can we just let her stay on top for a while? Please?

4. A RETURN TO FORM This next one’s a pretty safe wish, since it was all-but-guaranteed for us during TVD’s Comic-Con panel, but we need Season 1 Damon back in our lives. You remember him, right? The devil-may-care brother who drank without remorse and danced without shirts? He’s gotten a little soft over the years, so we’re looking forward to seeing him firm up.

5. ANYTHING FOR ENZO Damon’s old cellmate was introduced in Season 5 as an emotionally complex character with a rich, surprising backstory. That was mostly abandoned in Season 6 — save for his intriguing Lily connection — as Enzo was demoted to a handsome plot device, merely existing to fill in blanks and move the story along as needed. Here’s hoping he gets some meaty material to work with in Season 7.

They’ve always been the oddest of odd couples, and watching them develop a friendship in Kai’s prison world last season reinforced how much we love them together. Besides, they could both use another friend in the cold, cruel, Gilbert-less world of Season 7.

He’s done so much good for Mystic Falls, and he’ll only do more as an official police officer, so our sole desire for him in Season 7 is to get a little something in return.
