MTV VMAs 2015: Best & Worst Moments

Of all the incomprehensible nonsense Kelly Osbourne put forth during the VMAs pre-show, crashing Nick Jonas' performance of "Levels" definitely takes the cake. (For the record, we're merely assuming she crashed it because we can't imagine anyone purposely choreographing... whatever that was.)

Sorry, but we have to say it: There's no more "Bad Blood" here! Weeks after resolving an awkward Twitter feud with Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj opened the show by bringing the pop star on stage for a duet of Minaj's "The Night Is Still Young." Tweens of America, consider this hatchet buried.

If you had any doubt that the VMAs are not a show for children, Jared Leto sealed the deal with his X-rated introduction of The Weeknd: "Pull your pants down, your skirts up, and welcome the one, the only, The Weeknd." Can we revoke his Oscar for that?

Rebel Wilson stripping at an award show is nothing new — but MTV's censors totally missing the enormous F-word on her top? We never expected that. (Nor do we expect to see Wilson back on the VMA stage next year.)

This August heat might be sweltering, but there was plenty of shade in the Microsoft Theater! After accepting the award for Best Hip-Hop Video, Nicki Minaj put host Miley Cyrus on blast for calling the "Anaconda" singer "not too kind" in a recent New York Times interview. "And now, back to this b—ch that had a lot to say about me in the press. Miley, what's good?" Minaj said. Well... at least that feud with Taylor Swift is over?

There's nothing I could add to make them any more perfect, so I'll just let Miley Cyrus' words speak for themselves: "Nothing says 'turnt' like Hailee Steinfeld!"

Remember when Justin Bieber delivered that awesome comeback performance... then totally ruined it by crying?

The VMAs might be the last place you'd expect to see celebrities showing genuine emotion, but Big Sean delivered just that while accepting the award for Song With a Social Message (alongside Kanye West and John Legend for "One Man Can Change the World"). The rapper gave a heartfelt thank-you to his trailblazing grandmother for having a major impact on his life, and for a few seconds, we forgot that Miley Cyrus was backstage, waiting to make another marijuana joke.

And now for something completely different at the VMAs: a talented performer! (We kid, we kid... kinda.) But during a two-hour telecast that featured little more than lip-syncing and twerking, Tori Kelly's hard-rock performance of "Should've Been Us" was a much-needed breath of fresh air.

While presenting Kanye West with the Video Vanguard Award, Taylor Swift added her onetime archenemy to her ever-expanding squad... but not before making light of that time he interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs. "To all the winners tonight, I'm real happy for you, and I'mma let you finish," Swift began, "but Kanye West has had one of the greatest careers of all time!" Well-played, T-Swift.

As for Kanye's acceptance speech, it probably could have benefited from someone jumping on the stage and cutting him off. After rambling for nearly 10 minutes about his years-ago Taylor Swift gaffe, his disdain for the media and award shows and other topics (like fresh-pressed juice!), West ended the monologue by declaring he would run for president in 2020. O-kay...

We know she's just bein' Miley... but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

Taylor Swift capped off a pretty flawless night (for her, at least) by accepting the Video of the Year Award even more graciously than we expected her to. "I'm just glad that, in 2015, we live in a world where boys can play princesses and girls can play soldiers," the pop singer gushed. Take notes, Kanye: That's how you keep a speech short and sweet.
