Could 9-1-1 Still Bring Back Bobby? 'I'm Making No Promises, I'm Wondering Just Like You,' Says Angela Bassett
Have we really seen the last of Peter Krause's Bobby Nash on 9-1-1?
Despite the captain of the 118 succumbing to a deadly virus in Season 8 and being buried in Minnesota, a particularly vocal portion of the ABC procedural's fanbase believes that this simply can't be the end of Bobby's story.
One of those fans happens to be Angela Bassett's sister, who has apparently been hounding Bassett about the potential return of her on-screen hubby.
"She won't stop talking about it, she is mad," Bassett tells Today.com, adding that her sister's exact words were, "It don't make sense ... Is he coming back?"
Bassett doesn't really have an answer, neither for her sister nor for the fans, but she does acknowledge that she and her character "have to keep his memory alive in some way." In terms of Bobby's possible return, she says, "I'm making no promises. I'm wondering like you, just like the fans."
Even if Bobby doesn't miraculously rise from the grave this fall, Athena will still have her hands full with family matters. Now that Elijah M. Cooper (Harry) and Corinne Massiah (May) have been promoted to series regulars, Athena's children will be occupying more of her time and attention in Season 9.
Harry will experience "growing pains" on his journey to "becoming a man," which will occasionally put him at odds with Athena, forcing May to take sides. "Either she's on my side or his side," Bassett says. "She is his sister, so help me out, girl!"
9-1-1 returns to ABC for Season 9 on Thursday, Oct. 9 (8/7c), followed by the series premiere of spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville (9 pm) and the Season 22 premiere of Grey's Anatomy (10 pm).
Are you holding out hope that we may see Krause again as Bobby, even if it's just another one of Athena's hallucinations? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.
