Beauty In Black Star Reacts To Those Bloody Cliffhangers, Teases Kimmie And Mallory's Brewing Showdown

Fans of Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black are already foaming at the mouth for Netflix to release the second half of Season 2 — and can you blame them, considering how we leave the Bellarie family in Episode 8?

For starters, it's revealed that Glen, the hot ranch hand who Rain accidentally pushed off the balcony and left for dead, somehow survived his long fall to the concrete below. And the situation gets even dicier when Alex casually mentions that Glen is Jules' son, a fact he has yet to share with Kimmie.

"I cannot wait to see when Kimmie realizes who [Glen] is," series star Taylor Polidore Williams tells TVLine. "I think that's going to open up a whole new world for her."

This whole ordeal could have been avoided if Rain actually spoke to Glen when she found him kissing Sylvie in the barn, rather than pulling him off of her, grabbing a pitchfork and forcing him off the ledge. Still, Williams is quick to defend the character's seemingly irrational actions, reminding us how Rain's past experiences inform her present-day motivations.

"These are trauma-informed responses that all of these people have, it's pure PTSD," Williams says. "To us as viewers, you have not gone through the things that she's been through, so it's like, 'Why would you react that way?' But we've seen what's happened to her."

There's also the not-so-small matter of Varney walking in on Charles while he's using a chainsaw to cut up the corpses of the robbers he killed in self-defense the night before. If at all possible, things get even worse when another group of men storms the house, claiming to be police.

"I don't have any scenes in Charles' house, so I didn't really know what was going on there," Williams says. "But we were holding one night in Charles's house, and as I was walking to go sit down, I saw these prosthetic bodies all sawed up with blood on them. I was like, 'What part of the script is this?' I read all of them, but by the time we filmed, I was just focused on what I had to do. It was just as surprising to watch when it was on the screen."

Looking ahead to the second half of Season 2 (premiere date TBD), there's only one member of the Bellarie family with whom Kimmie has yet to have a proper confrontation — Mallory, who's still playing her nice-girl routine... for now. The tension is certainly brewing, with Williams acknowledging that "we've had little glimpses" into their fraught relationship.

"She still has that mask up, which Kimmie does not," Williams says. "She's immediately like, 'This is how I'm presenting myself to you.' I believe that her mask will eventually crack, and then you're going to have them going neck and neck. I don't know if it's going to be in this season, but eventually they have to connect."
