YOU's Final Season Brings Back Familiar Faces From Joe's Sordid Past — Just Don't Expect To See [Spoiler]

With the fifth and final season of YOU now streaming on Netflix, Joe Goldberg has returned to his old name, his old stomping grounds and, of course, his old habits.

As the husband of billionaire heiress Kate Lockwood, Joe's new standing in society thrusts him into the public eye in a way he neither expected nor wanted. For a guy who's always treasured anonymity, Joe is suddenly the talk of the town, and not everyone has good things to say.

This sudden popularity also brings some familiar faces out the woodwork, and if you've been keeping up with Joe's killer shenanigans over the last five years, you know this guy's list of sworn enemies is longer than a CVS receipt.

But I'm not here to spoil any major returns in the final season — and believe me, there are many. No, I'm here merely to burst your bubble by confirming who you won't see in these last 10 episodes.

Disappointment, thy name is Jenna Ortega. That's right, as much as fans were hoping that Ortega would reprise her role from YOU's second season, I'm sorry to say that Ellie does not make an appearance in Season 5.

Why not, you ask? As co-showrunner Michael Foley explains to TVLine, it all came down to scheduling. While YOU was filming its swan song in New York City, Ortega was busy shooting the second season of Netflix's Wednesday... in Ireland.

Another character mentioned but not seen in Season 5 is John Stamos' Dr. Nicky, still falsely imprisoned for the murder of Joe's Season 1 girlfriend Beck. With Joe back in the Big Apple, Dr. Nicky was another throwback character many fans were hoping to see — but I've got more bad news on that front.

"There was some talk about getting him back," Foley says. "It was just a question of how he sort of fit into the story. There was consideration of it, yes."
