Matt's Inside Line: Scoop On Chicago P.D. And Fire, Found, NCIS, The Rookie, Fire Country And More

Who grows closer as Chicago P.D. wraps its season? Is The Rookie facing a Season 8 shake-up? Is more risky business on tap for NCIS? Read on for answers to those questions and others! (You can and should email any brand-new Qs to InsideLine@tvline.com.)

Anything you can tease about Chicago P.D. season finale? –M
In the two-part finale (concluding May 21), "Intelligence ups their pursuit of dirty Deputy Chief Reid," showrunner Gwen Sigan tells Inside Line. "As things escalate and Reid shows himself to be a formidable opponent, Voight finds himself battling his own instincts." Meanwhile, "Ruzek and Burgess' wedding fast approaches, Chapman grows closer to Voight, and Torres faces the emotional fall out of his actions."

I was wondering about a possible Season 3 of Frasier. When the show got cancelled on Paramount+, CBS Studios said they were shopping the comedy. Kelsey Grammer also mentioned he believes the show will get picked-up. Have you heard anything? –Buddy
I asked around for you, Bobby, and as of late last night, there were zero updates on the show finding a new taker.

Anything on Fire Country? –Dee
Be forewarned, tonight's episode is a stealth humdinger, featuring a Finn/Gabriela twist... J. August Richards getting especially fierce as Oxalta's mouthpiece... and an episode-ending zag that sneaked up and caught me off guard, and should have longtime fans worried for a certain character.

Is there anything you can tease about Chicago Fire's Stellaride baby storyline? –Amaani
Stellaride is "on quite the journey this season trying to start their family...," affirms showrunner Andrea Newman. "In an upcoming episode, they'll finally get the call they've been waiting for. What happens then, viewers have to tune in to find out!"

Is filming on Bridgerton Season 4 complete? Any sign of an expected release date? –Bridget
Nope, I am told that Season 4 is still in production, and as such we are a ways away from having a premiere date.

I've heard contract negotiations are coming up for several of The Rookie's cast. Will this affect any of the storylines for the season finale (i.e. leaving them open-ended, just in case)? –Beth
Excellent question, Beth. Thankfully, when I delivered it to showrunner Alexi Hawley, he waved off the concern, saying: "We're all good there."

Any info on the episode count for Season 8 of The Rookie? –Emily
I tried to pry an episode count from showrunner Alexi Hawley during our chat this week, but he was atypically mum. (ABC, you should know, is very close-guarded with episode counts... for some reason.) To make up for that non-answer, I offer some casting intel: Flula Borg's "Skip Tracer Randy comes back to us, I think it's [Episode] 17, in a really fun storyline," Hawley shared with me.

Will Jamie meet the rest of his bio family on Found? –SKScott
You will continue to see Margaret and Jamie working through their trauma together, in hopes to repair their relationship and get back to some normalcy within their family. And this season's penultimate episode, airing May 8, will touch on that quite heavily.

Will there be a Season 4 of Acorn TV's Whitstable Pearl? I have read all 10 books and know there is much more of Mike (Howard Charles) and Pearl's (Kerry Godliman) story to be told. Also will Series 3 be released Stateside for purchase (DVD or Fandango) anytime soon? –Cindy
As of now, there is no news to share on Season 4 or the release date for Season 3 on DVD. Season 3 is, however, currently available to download/rent on Amazon (in addition to streaming on Acorn TV).

On Law & Order: Organized Crime, what is coming up for our lovely Sergeant Ayanna Bell? –Demar
I forget if Chris Meloni gave any scoop per se on Bell during our Wednesday-night TVLine Spotlight conversation (led by TVLine EIC Kim Roots and embedded above), but he speaks at length about co-star Danielle Moné Truitt and the Stabler/Bell dynamic at the 8-minute mark.

My curiosity really has gotten the better of me, first time asking a question. Will Olivia Benson be getting the compass necklace back? –Alexa
That specific question did not come up during the Q&A above, but there was a fun compass necklace mention/reaction at the 23:00 mark.

Have they renewed Deal or No Deal Island for Season 3 yet? I would love to apply to be a contestant for the new season. If so, how do I apply? –Joey
Deal or No Deal has not been renewed yet, but if there is another cycle, this is where one would sign up.

Will Rebecca De Mornay be returning for more episodes of NCIS as crime family matriarch Carla Marino? It seemed like they were laying the groundwork for more appearances. –Bradley
As suggested by the many Carla mentions in this week's episode, I can confirm that De Mornay will be seen again, in the flesh, in the May 5 season finale.

Since we got a hint in NCIS Season 22, Episode 16 that Kasie might start dating again, will we find out more about this part of her life? –Serena
Not during the last few episodes of this season, no.

Is the S.W.A.T. series finale a true two-parter? –C.J.
Mmm, not so much. Some B-stories carry over, giving a sense of continuity, but it is not a traditional two-parter like the cop drama has done before.
