Matt's Inside Line: Scoop On Andor, NCIS: Origins, Fire Country, Law & Order, Grosse Pointe Garden Society, Doc, The Rookie And More
Will a Fire Country favorite get burned? What does The Rookie have on the menu? When will MIA Law & Order lawman resurface? Read on for answers to those questions and others! (You can and should email any brand-new Qs to InsideLine@tvline.com.)
Please tell me Jordan Calloway's Jake isn't leaving Fire Country! I started watching it because of him and Max Thieriot's casting. –Scott
I'm halfway through tonight's two-hour Season 3 finale, and man, it sure feels like Jake is leaving...? (There's a small party and everything!) Then again, there's a lot of high drama and danger afoot heading into that second hour, with one character making a very questionable firefighting decision....
Any scoop on the Fire Country season finale? –Caio
Portions of Friday night's first hour are like a damn horror movie (minus the gore, of course). Also, Katie Findlay's Francine will ask Eve a question that stops the Three Rock captain in her tracks.
During his tenure on NCIS, we met all of Gibbs' ex-wives, Jenny Shepard... In all those years I don't recall any mention of NCIS: Origins' Lala, though she seems to have played a large role in Gibbs' early years. I would think that a character that is very important to Gibbs' development would have been woven into NCIS. –Richard
One could argue that since hearing Gibbs' narration at the end of the very first NCIS: Origins episode — about finally telling "the story of her" — that Season 1's raison d'être was to raise and fuel the question of why we'd never heard of Lala before. I am happy to report that this Monday's incredibly powerful finale, at least in my mind, satisfyingly answers that question. (In fact, Narrator Gibbs himself pretty much answers it.)
With the news of NCIS: Origins introducing Lara Macy [in Monday's finale], is there any early word on character introductions for Season 2? Like maybe the Fed 5? –Ryan
As hinted above, you're going to be processing a lot as Season 1 draws to a close. But be sure to stay alert, because you will at the very least hear a very familiar name....
Law & Order's Detective Shaw been missing from some episodes. Do you know when he'll be back? –Nadine
Mehcad Brooks' character will next be seen in the May 1 episode, "Sins of the Father," in which a car mechanic is murdered execution-style, and Shaw and Riley suspect his job was a cover for more sinister talents.
In one of the Matlock episodes there was a statement that Matty and family moved "across the country" to New York. Where did they live before? I'm also wondering where the mansion they live in Westchester is located. In the episode where Alfie loses his wallet, there is a library card that says Westchester library, and I thought I saw "Armonk" above it. Is that correct? –Fran
I love a specific question. Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman confirms that Matty, Edwin and Alfie do live in Armonk — as the EP's own brother does ("It's a beautiful, grassy, green hamlet") — and that they moved East from San Francisco, where Madeline built her law career.
How heavily (or lightly) will Alan Tudyk's K-2SO be featured in Andor Season 2? –Craig
The Imperial security droid makes a memorable entrance during the third 3-episode batch, has a memorable first line, and before long is being his snarky, Rogue One self. Bonus scoop: When I recently spoke to Varada Sethu (about Doctor Who), she shared that her favorite Andor Season 2 episode, as Cinta, is in the second batch of three, saying, "There's a lot of action, and I got to do a very, very, very cool stunt I can't wait for people to see!"
Anything on Doc Season 2? –Lexie
I asked showrunner Barbie Kligman if we should expect any sort of time jump when Fox's hit medical drama returns with Season 2, and the answer was, in a word, no. "Currently, the plan is to go back to Michael's office, in that moment" where Jake caught Amy kissing her ex-husband, "but we'll see," she shared. "We may even [rewind] back a little."
My question for NCIS: Tony & Ziva: Is it possible we could get more seasons in the future, or is it a standalone 10-episode series? –Melody
Showrunner John McNamara's quote about being "excited to tell a single, serialized story of intrigue and espionage over 10 episodes" did have a whiff of "limited series," but I am hearing that, in success, there absolutely could be additional seasons of the Paramount+ spinoff.
Any truth to the rumors that Season 3 of NCIS: Sydney will have 20 episodes? –Melissa
Showrunner Morgan O'Neill would/could not reveal the exact episode count when he and I spoke the other day, but he did say they'll be shooting through the middle of this year. (Should I head Down Under to reprise my role as Special Agent Key? Even at risk of being attacked by a drop bear?)
Any scoop on upcoming Grosse Pointe Garden Society episodes? –Rachelle
You won't have to wait until the Season 1 finale airing May 16 to find out who the mysterious "Quiche" is; rather, I hear that reveal is coming pretty soon.
I know this isn't the normal type of question because it is about when a season will air in reruns. But I am wondering when Season 14 of Bob's Burgers will begin airing on FXX or Cartoon Network? Normally, it seems the previous season airs once the new one starts, but that hasn't happened this time. –Virginia
History has shown us that it's close to at least a year after a finale airs on broadcast TV, before the reruns get a second window on cable — and Season 14 ended on Fox late last September.
Any updates on the Prime Video show Countdown? –Joey
Ordered to series last June, the thriller starring Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) and Jessica Camacho (The Flash) wrapped filming on its 13 episodes a few weeks ago. That's all I've got. For now....
What action will Wesley and Angela face in the next few episodes of The Rookie? –Sarah
Let's just say that when Wesley is doxxed by a pair of "Cliptok" superstars this coming Tuesday, it affects his and Angela's entire brood. Angela in turn swings into protective Mama Bear mode like you've never seen before!
Love The Rookie, love Chenford of course, but could use a Lucy-centric episode. Anything of that sort coming up? –N
With just three episodes left this season, none are "Lucy-centric" per se, but "she's front and center in a bunch of storylines," showrunner Alexi Hawley said when I delivered your Q. Bonus scoop: Though "Tim supports Lucy as she prepares for the sergeant exam" was a bit oversold by ABC's synopsis, this Tuesday's episode is highly and unexpectedly entertaining (given that it involves the return of a certain insufferable character). For one, get ready to RSVP for a slapdash dinner party featuring a pretty eclectic assortment of guests and a pair of very begrudging co-hosts....
