Teen Wolf Movie: Everything We Know About The Paramount+ Reunion So Far (With Behind-The-Scenes First Looks)

They may not be teens anymore, but these wolves still have bite.

Paramount+ is making it feel like the early 2010s again (good times!) with the release of Teen Wolf: The Movie, an epic event that will reunite many beloved characters from the hit MTV series.

But just as the show itself kept us on our toes, news about the movie is very much the same, with new announcements (both good and bad) trickling out when you least expect them.

Read on for a breakdown of everything we know about Teen Wolf: The Movie, from its plot to its release date to its ever-changing cast of returning characters. Once you've soaked it all in, drop a comment with your hopes for the movie. Who and what are you most excited to see?

WHAT: The Plot

"A full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it a terrifying evil has emerged," reads the official synopsis for Teen Wolf: The Movie. "The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of banshees, werecoyotes, hellhounds, kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a werewolf like Scott McCall, no longer a teenager yet still an alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they've ever faced."

WHEN: The Release Date

Unfortunately, we don't have an exact date on the calendar just yet. Right now, we're looking at a "sometime in 2022" time table.

BACK: Tyler Posey as Scott McCall

What, you thought they were going to do this without him? As Beanie Feldstein would say, it's the titular role!

BACK: Crystal Reed as Allison Argent

This won't be the first time Reed has returned to the franchise since Allison's death back in Season 3; she guest-starred in a Season 5 episode as Marie-Jeanne Valet, one of Allison's wolf-hunting ancestors.

Still, it's anyone's guess how Teen Wolf: The Movie will incorporate Allison into the action. Will she visit Scott in a dream? Will she appear in a never-before-seen flashback? Or will she follow in her Aunt Kate's footsteps, returning from the dead as... something else?

Regardless of how Allison returns to the fold, we can all agree on one thing: this first-look photo is positively chill-inducing.

NOT BACK: Dylan O'Brien as Mieczyslaw 'Stiles' Stilinski

"It was a difficult decision," O'Brien told our sister publication Variety on March 9 about his decision not to do the movie. "A lot went into it. The show couldn't be more dear to me. It was the first thing I ever did I and so many people there are extremely dear to me. It was something I was trying to make work but it all happened very fast. We didn't really know that it was happening and they kind of just threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show. We were trying to figure it out."

"Ultimately, I just decided it was left in a really good place for me and I still want to leave it there," he continued. "I wish them well and I'm going to watch it the first night it comes out. I hope it f–ing kicks ass, but I'm not going to be in it."

BACK: Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale

Hoechlin's name didn't appear in the initial announcement for Teen Wolf: The Movie, so TVLine made sure to ask him during an interview about his CW series Superman & Lois.

"That I can neither confirm nor deny," he told us on Jan. 25. "We'll see. There are a lot of things going on, but I don't have any confirmation at this point. In this world, anything's possible."

UPDATE: It was confirmed on May 13 that Hoechlin will appear as Derek in the movie.

NEW: Vince Mattis as Eli Hale (Derek's Son!)

Yes, you read that right. We may not be getting Derek Hale, but we are getting the 15-year-old son we (and presumably he) didn't know he had.

Teen wolves having teen wolves? This is just too much.

BACK: Holland Roden as Lydia Martin

More Lydia? Now that's something to scream about.

Roden posted this behind-the-scenes shot of Lydia and Jackson (Colton Haynes) with the caption "...trouble?" Uh, we sure hope so!

BACK: Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore

The former Kanima you loved to hate, then hated to love, then loved to love, will be back to once again test your emotional limits.

BACK: Shelley Hennig as Malia Tate

The show's resident she-wolf is confirmed to be howling alongside her pack once again. Here's a shot of Hennig on set with Colton Haynes, which begs the question: Do Jackson and Malia even know each other?

NOT BACK: Arden Cho as Kira Yukimura

Unfortunately, Teen Wolf: The Movie will leave Kira in the desert.

According to our sister site Deadline, Cho was approached to appear in the movie, but she declined when she was only offered half the salary as her three main female costars.

BACK: Dylan Sprayberry as Liam Dunbar

Dylan Sr. may not be returning, but at least we'll get to spend some time with Dylan Jr. (aka Baby Wolf) in the movie.

BACK: JR Bourne as Chris Argent

We wonder how Papa Argent will feel about his daughter's apparent return? In the meantime, let's just enjoy this behind-the-scenes shot of Bourne getting all cozy with the pack.

BACK: Linden Ashby as Sheriff Stilinski

The official Teen Wolf account tweeted this pic of Ashby back on set, accompanied by this caption: "No trouble in these woods with Sheriff Stilinski on duty." (With all respect to the Stiles' dad, there will always be trouble in the woods.)

BACK: Melissa Ponzio as Melissa McCall

Come on, you didn't really think that Mama McCall was going to miss her little boy's big TV return, did you?

BACK: Ian Bohen as Peter Hale

Because he's currently appearing opposite Tyler Hoechlin on The CW's Superman & Lois, we asked Ian Bohen about the chances of Peter reuniting with Derek in Beacon Hills.

"We would love to do that together, and I can absolutely see a world where we are reunited," he tells TVLine. "I know they're shooting here pretty soon, so you will have a definite yea or nay forthcoming for certain. But I feel positive about it. I wouldn't want to see a movie where Derek and Peter weren't in it."

UPDATE: Paramount+ confirmed on March 24 that Bohen will appear as Peter in the movie. (As a bonus, here's an on-set shot of him looking particularly elegant alongside Bourne and Posey.)

NOT BACK: Cody Christian as Theo Raeken

Christian confirmed in an Instagram post that he will not be reprising the role of Theo for Teen Wolf: The Movie.

"Although the full moon and our schedules didn't align this time, I'm excited to see what's next in the Teen Wolf universe," Christian wrote on April 14. "Will always be a home. Will always have my broken chimera heart."

BACK: Ryan Kelley as Jordan Parrish

Like a phoenix — er, hellhound — rising from the ashes, Parrish will return to Beacon Hills for Teen Wolf: The Movie. As you can see from these on-set shots, Kelley's role remains clothing-optional.

BACK: Khylin Rhambo as Mason Hewitt

There's no sign of his main squeeze Corey, but we're excited to see what brings Mason (the former Bête du Gévaudan) back into the fold.
