NFL, The Masked Singer And This Is Us Top Ratings For 2019-20 Season; NCIS Repeats As Most-Watched Drama

The final numbers are in for the 2019-20 broadcast-TV season, and this year was yet another one through the uprights for football fare.

NBC's Sunday Night Football and Fox's Thursday Night Football placed No. 1 and No. 2 for the season, with average ratings of 5.9 and 4.5 in the coveted 18-49 demo (including Live+7 DVR playback data).

Fox's The Masked Singer (with a 3.2), NBC's This Is Us (2.9) and ABC's The Bachelor (2.4) rounded out broadcast's Top 5.

In the 18-49 demo, This Is Us (which was down 24 percent year over year) was trailed by ABC's Grey's Anatomy (2.3) and Fox's 9-1-1 (2.3). On the sitcom side, with Big Bang Theory now out of the mix, ABC's Modern Family reclaimed the throne with a 1.9 (down 21 percent with its own farewell run). It was followed by ABC's The Conners and CBS' Young Sheldon, both of which scored a 1.6.

Of the Top 20 non-sports entertainment programs, ABC boasted seven, followed by NBC's six, Fox's four and CBS' three.

In total audience, CBS' NCIS (averaging 15.3 million viewers) repeated as the season's most watched drama, while the network's Young Sheldon (with 11.5 million viewers) inherited the top comedy spot from its sire. All told, CBS delivered nine of the Top 20 most watched entertainment programs, NBC had seven, and Fox and ABC each had just two.

Here are my hand-curated rankings for the broadcast networks' assorted offerings; last season's can be found here. Hit Comments to share what surprises, delights or depresses you.
