R.I.P., Anne Burrell: Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay And More Food Network Stars Pay Tribute ('She Was A Radiant Spirit')

The Food Network family is honoring one of their own.

TV chef Anne Burrell, a staple on Food Network with shows like Worst Cooks in America and Chopped, died on Tuesday at the age of 55, and her culinary colleagues have been paying tribute to her legacy on social media.

Talk show host and cookbook author Rachael Ray, who co-hosted Worst Cooks in America with Burrell for four seasons and was a bridesmaid in Burrell's wedding, paid tribute to her friend on Instagram: "The news about Anne has truly shaken us. John and I are heartbroken. I can't quite believe it — such a strong, vibrant, fearless woman, so full of life and love, could be gone so soon... Despite being surrounded by incredible chefs, she never once made me feel self-conscious about not being one — she always treated me as one of the gang. When we hosted Worst Cooks together, we had the most incredible laughs."

Ray added: "I'll miss her friendship deeply. Everyone whose life she touched will miss her. Sending love to Stuart and everyone who knew and loved Anne. We've lost someone truly special."

Fellow former co-host Bobby Flay also paid his respects on Instagram, writing: "Worst Cooks in America was the funnest show on TV. All of your co-hosts (me included) were just alongside (sic) for the Anne Burrell ride. The greatest gift I got from AB was turning me on to a world of Maine Coon Cats (including Nacho)... a gift that I'll have forever. #unforgettable"

Restaurant: Impossible host Robert Irvine, who co-hosted Worst Cooks with Burrell for three seasons, posted on X: "I am stunned and deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Anne Burrell. Anne wasn't just a fiery chef. She was a radiant spirit who lit up every room she entered... She believed in nurturing culinary potential and celebrating small victories, whether in an amateur cook or on a charity fundraiser. That was Anne. Uncompromising in her standards, yet tender in her mentorship."

Fellow Chopped judge Aarón Sanchez posted a heartfelt memorial to Burrell on Instagram: "I'm heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend, Chef Anne Burrell. Her spirit, her fire, her talent, her leadership, her laugh — unforgettable. I'll carry her memory with me always. Rest easy, amiga."

Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard, who has appeared on Food Network shows like Iron Chef America and Guy's Grocery Games, posted on Instagram: "Such a vibrant personality and radiant smile and talent that will not be forgotten. [Anne,] you were a true inspiration for so many. My heart goes out to your family and loved ones."

Another Top Chef winner, Michael Voltaggio, has competed and judged on several Food Network shows, and he posted a photo of a baby blanket Anne sent him for his daughter Echo: "Anne thank you for sharing your talents with the world. Aside from being an incredible chef, teacher and colleague she's also a loyal and thoughtful friend. You consistently reached out to check in during the wins and the losses. Thank you for knitting this beautiful blanket for Echo, and thank you for so many fun memories in and out of the kitchen chef."

Food Network honored Burrell with a statement as well: "We are deeply saddened to share the news that beloved chef, Anne Burrell, passed away this morning. Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent — teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne's family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss."

Burrell died Tuesday at her Brooklyn home, her family confirmed in a statement to People: "Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered. Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal." No cause of death has been announced.
