Julie Bowen's Hysteria! Cancelled At Peacock After 1 Season

Things have taken a hellish turn for the horror-comedy Hysteria!, which has been cancelled at Peacock after just one season, TVLine has confirmed.

The cancellation comes nearly four months after Hysteria!'s first — and now only — eight-episode season released on Oct. 18, 2024.

Set during the "Satanic Panic" of the late 1980s, Hysteria! centered on a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts who, after the disappearance of a beloved varsity quarterback, realized they could capitalize on the town's sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band... until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings and reported supernatural activity triggered a leather-studded witch hunt that led directly back to them.

Modern Family's Julie Bowen led the series-regular cast alongside Anna Camp (True Blood), Emjay Anthony (Council of Dads), Chiara Aurelia (Cruel Summer), Kezii Curtis (Insecure) and Nikki Hahn (American Housewife). Horror veteran Bruce Campbell (of the Evil Dead films) was also among the show's recurring guest stars.

Hysteria! hailed from series creator Matthew Scott Kane (Stitchers), who wrote and executive-produced with David A. Goodman (The Orville).
