Junior Edwards, Swamp People Star, Dies
Junior Edwards, who starred in The History Channel's Swamp People for several seasons, has died, our sister site Deadline reports.
His age and cause of death are unclear. We will update this post as soon as the information becomes available.
Edwards' co-star and grandson 'Lil' Willie Edwards posted about the death Saturday evening. "Rest easy pawpaw," he wrote on Facebook. "I know [you're] probably running your hoop nets or doing something crazy inside those pearly gates...you will be extremely missed pawpaw we love you more than anything!!! Until we meet again."
Earlier in July, Willie Edwards wrote on Facebook that Junior Edwards had been "dealing with some health issues" and asked for prayers because "we need a miracle. Get better for us, papa. We love you!!!"
Swamp People's Ashley "Deadeye" Jones also posted Saturday about Edwards' passing on Instagram, calling him "one of the greatest alligator hunters there is" and a "real hardcore outdoorsman."
"I watched this man bring in MONSTER gators at Duffys Gas Station in Pierre Part, La.," she continued. "This was after a looooong day for both of us and you can tell it! Glad we took a second for a pic!"
Swamp People follows alligator hunters in Louisiana. Junior Edwards was part of the show in Seasons 1 through 6. He later returned for Season 12.
