Laid Cancelled At Peacock

It seems that Laid is as dead as one of Ruby's ex-lovers: Peacock has cancelled the twisted romantic comedy starring Stephanie Hsu after one season, our sister site Deadline reports.

Hsu (an Oscar nominee for Everything Everywhere All at Once) starred as Ruby, a young woman who discovers that all of her former lovers are dying under mysterious circumstances. Along with her friend AJ (played by Girls alum Zosia Mamet), Ruby "must go back through her sex timeline to confront her past in order to move forward," according to the official synopsis.

The cast also included Michael Angarano (Minx) and Tommy Martinez (Good Trouble), with guest appearances by John Early (Search Party), Chloe Fineman (Saturday Night Live), Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer) and more. Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat) and Sally Bradford McKenna (The Goldbergs) wrote the series, executive-produced it and served as co-showrunners, with Hsu serving as an executive producer as well.

Laid debuted on Peacock on December 19, with all eight half-hour episodes landing at once to binge. Were you hoping to see more of this self-described "f–ked-up rom-com" in a second season? Hit the comments below to give us all of your thoughts on the cancellation news.
