Leanne Renewed For Season 2 At Netflix
Leanne Morgan's self-titled Netflix sitcom has been renewed for Season 2, TVLine has learned.
The pickup comes roughly five weeks after the launch of Leanne's freshman run, which consisted of 16 episodes and was released in its entirety on July 31.
"We're coming back for a second season!" Morgan said in a statement to Tudum. "I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast and especially for all the fans of the show. Y'all did this for us and we can't wait to be back!"
Added executive producer Chuck Lorre: "Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity. Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with."
The half-hour comedy, which Morgan co-created with Lorre and Susan McMartin (Mom, Two and a Half Men), casts the stand-up comedian as... well, Leanne! In the show, "Leanne's world is turned upside down when her husband of 33 years (played by Two and a Half Men's Ryan Stiles) unexpectedly leaves her for another woman," per the official logline. Supported by her family, including her ride-or-die sister Carol (Mom's Kristen Johnston), Leanne learns to embrace the chaos and finds strength, laughter and hope in the most unexpected places." (TVLine readers gave Season 1 an average grade of "A-.")
No word yet on a Season 2 episode count or time frame for release, but TVLine will keep you posted as we learn more.
