Ryan Murphy's Monster Season 4 To Chronicle Alleged Axe Murderer Lizzie Borden (Report)
Ryan Murphy has an axe to grind with Netflix. The streamer has reportedly ordered a fourth season of Murphy's Monster anthology series, this time centered around infamous (alleged) axe murderer Lizzie Borden.
The historical figure was tried and acquitted for the murders of her father and stepmother in 1892, at which point she was ostracized by her Massachusetts community. Borden story was previously adapted into the Lifetime limited series The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, starring Christina Ricci in the title role.
Monster's 2022 first season, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, starred Evan Peters as the titular serial killer, Richard Jenkins as Jeffrey's father Lionel, Molly Ringwald as Jeffrey's stepmother Shari, Niecy Nash as Jeffrey's neighbor Glenda and Michael Learned as Jeffrey's grandmother Catherine. The first season received six Primetime Emmy nominations, with Nash winning for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.
Up next was 2024's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which starred Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch as the real-life brothers who killed their parents — José (Javier Bardem) and Kitty Menendez (Chloë Sevigny) — in 1989.
A third season, Monster: The Original Monster, is set to star Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam as serial killer Ed Gein. A release date has not yet been announced.
Netflix declined to comment on the Lizzie Borden-centric season. Are you excited about potentially exploring her complicated story in a fourth installment of Monster? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.
