Netflix Announces Price Increases — Ad-Supported Plan Now $7.99/Month
It now costs 9% to 16% more to Netflix and Chill.
In disclosing its Q4 2024 earnings results Tuesday, the streaming giant announced a series of subscription rate increases — its first bumps since October 2023 — effectively immediately.
"As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix," the company said in a letter to shareholders. "To that end, we are adjusting prices today across most plans in the US, Canada, Portugal and Argentina (which was already factored into the 2025 guidance we provided in October 2024)."
Specifically, in the U.S., Netflix's Standard With Ads plan is going up a dollar, from $6.99 to $7.99 per month.
The Standard plan (without ads) will rise from $15.49 to $17.99 per month, while the Premium tier (which offers four simultaneous streams) is changing from $22.99 to $24.99 per month.
Adding an Extra Member to a non-ad plan will go up a dollar, from $7.99 to $8.99 per month, while there will be no change in the cost for an Extra Member with Ads (currently at $6.99/month).
The price increase comes as Netflix announced its biggest single-quarter subscriber jump ever — up nearly 19 million subscribers, to 301.6 million globally.
