Outer Banks Promotes Two Ahead Of Final Season — See The Remaining Pogues (Sniff!) In First Season 5 Photos
Two Outer Banks characters will have an increased role in the show's upcoming final season, recent cast promotions indicate.
Tony Crane, who plays JJ's estranged father/murderer Chandler Groff, and Cullen Moss, who plays Sheriff Victor Shoupe, have been upped to series regular for Season 5, TVLine has learned.
The Netflix adventure drama kicked off production on its swan song Friday, with filming getting underway in Charleston, S.C. Below, you can see the first photos of returning cast members Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey and Carlacia Grant. Not pictured, but also returning, are Austin North and Fiona Palomo.

Notably absent: Rudy Pankow, who played JJ for the show's first four seasons but whose character died at the hands of his criminal biological father in the Season 4 finale. After JJ handed Groff a coveted treasure called the Blue Crown in exchange for girlfriend Kiara's safety, Groff wasn't satisfied with running away with the ill-gotten goods. "It's a shame, you and me," Groff told him... then stabbed him in the belly and ran off.
Bleeding heavily, JJ fell into Kiara's arms. "Take care of the others, OK?" he asked her, telling her he loved her before he died.
Later, as the emotionally wrecked Pogues sat around a fire, Rafe reminded them that Groff is likely headed for Lisbon, and that they should go after the man who killed their friend. "He's not wrong," Kiara said, urging her friends to avenge their fellow Pogue. And as the episode ended, that seemed to be the plan. (Read a full finale recap.)
