The Last Thing He Told Me Renewed For Season 2 — Find Out Who'll Be Back

So maybe that's not the last thing he said?

The Last Thing He Told Me, originally announced as a limited series on Apple TV+, has been renewed for Season 2, TVLine has learned. Season 1 was based on Laura Dave's 2021 novel of the same name; Season 2 will be based on Dave's sequel book, which is slated for publication in 2025. Season 2 will premiere sometime after the book is published.

Jennifer Garner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Angourie Rice and David Morse will return for the second season. Aaron Zelman (The Killing) will join the production as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Josh Singer, who co-created the series with Dave.

The Last Thing He Told Me stars Garner as Hannah, a woman who must forge a relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter Bailey (Rice) in order to find the truth about why her husband Owen (Coster-Waldau) has mysteriously disappeared.

"I'm thrilled to get to tell more of Hannah's story – I couldn't have said yes more quickly to Season 2!," Garner said via statement. "These characters and their story mean so much to me, as I know they do to the many who have championed our show; we're excited to give audiences even more with this next chapter."

When TVLine spoke to Garner about the Season 1 finale, in which Hannah and Owen have a fleeting interaction, she said that she'd wondered how her character had the restraint not to run after her husband. "All of the questions [Hannah] had, how lonely she had to be for him, how much she's had to imagine — there he was to fill in the blanks, and she can't let herself go after him," she said, sighing. "Yes, very much, I have thought about that a lot for her."
