The Pitt Renewed For Season 2 At Max
Strong vital signs for The Pitt have resulted in a Season 2 renewal at Max.
The second season pickup comes seven episodes into the Noah Wyle medical drama's 15-episode freshman run; new episodes release Thursdays at 9/8c, with its Season 1 finale scheduled for April 10.
"We're excited and delighted with the audience response for our first season of The Pitt and can't be more appreciative of our partners at Max and Warner Bros. Television for all of their extraordinary support throughout our first season," Wyle and executive producers R. Scott Gemmill and John Wells said in a joint statement Friday.
Added Sarah Aubrey, Max's Head of Original Programming: "It's been a thrill to watch audiences embrace The Pitt as an update to procedural storytelling with a cast who authentically embody the heroics of doctors and nurses on shift in a 2025 emergency room. Our collaboration with John Wells, R. Scott Gemmill, Noah Wyle and Warner Bros. Television has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and we are excited to continue down this path with another season."
Though streaming services famously do not release ratings, Max previously disclosed that The Pitt secured a spot as a top five Max Original series debut of all time, both globally and domestically, and saw nearly 10x audience growth in its first week of availability — more than double the growth of other Max dramas on average.
The Pitt offers a "realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today's America, as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh," according to the official logline. The series takes place in real time (à la 24), with all Season 1 episodes encompassing a single emergency room shift.
Wyle, a five-time Emmy nominee for his breakout role as ER doc John Carter, now inhabits the part of department chief Dr. Michael Robinavitch (aka Dr. Robby). Rounding out the cast are Tracy Ifeachor (as Dr. Heather Collins), Patrick Ball (as Dr. Frank Langdon), Katherine LaNasa (as charge nurse Dana Evans), Supriya Ganesh (as Dr. Samira Mohan), Fiona Dourif (as Dr. Cassie McKay), Taylor Dearden (as Dr. Melissa "Mel" King), Isa Briones (as Dr. Trinity Santos), Gerran Howell (as med student Dennis Whittaker) and Shabana Azeez (as med student Victoria Javadi).
