The Sticky Cancelled At Prime Video After One Season

The Sticky has received some not-so-sweet news: Prime Video has cancelled the dark comedy series after just one season, TVLine has confirmed.

According to our sister site Deadline, which broke the news, The Sticky did not bring in enough of an audience in the weeks since its six-episode first — and now only — season released on Dec. 6, 2024.

Inspired by the real-life Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist, The Sticky starred Margo Martindale (The Americans) as Ruth Landry, a tough, middle-aged maple syrup farmer who turns to crime "when the bureaucratic authorities threaten to take away everything she loves," per the official synopsis. Throughout the first season, Ruth teamed up with hot-tempered Bostonian mobster Mike Byrne (Chris Diamantopoulos) and mild-mannered security guard Remy Bouchard (Guillaume Cyr) to carry out a multimillion-dollar heist on Quebec's maple syrup surplus.

In the finale, Bo (guest star Jamie Lee Curtis, also an executive producer) tipped off Mike's Boston crime family about what he was doing in Canada, just as he, Ruth and Remy were making off with a hefty share of stolen maple syrup. Little did they know, a very-much-alive Bo was also paying a visit to Ruth's comatose husband, Martin. (Read our finale post mortem here.)

The season finale (and season overall) averaged a TVLine reader grade of "A."
