TWD: Dead City Season 2 Trailer Welcomes An Animal Kingdom Vet To The Jungle — And Turns Maggie Into Negan?!?

In six seasons of TNT's Animal Kingdom, Jake Weary got beat up and bloodied a lot. But he gets a whole new kind of unpleasant shock in the Season 2 trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead City that AMC dropped on Thursday. (Press PLAY above to watch.)

Fans of the fourth Walking Dead spinoff are also going to be jolted by the extended clip, in which Lauren Cohan's beleaguered Maggie is seen brandishing Lucille, the barbed wire-covered baseball bat that Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan used to "strike out" her husband, Glenn. What kind of Freaky Friday s—t is this?!?

The Walking Dead: Dead City, which returns on Sunday, May 4, at 9/8c on AMC and AMC+, follows the frenemies to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, which was long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty and terror.

In Season 2, in the growing war for control of Manhattan, "Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides," the official synopsis tells us. "As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined."

The Season 2 cast also includes Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Mahina Anne Marie Napoleon, Lisa Emery, Logan Kim, Dascha Polanco and Kim Coates, amongst others.

Eli Jorné, a writer and co-executive producer on The Walking Dead for multiple seasons, serves as showrunner on Dead City and executive-produces with Cohan, Morgan, franchise overlord Scott M. Gimple, Brian Bockrath, Michael Satrazemis and Colin Walsh.
