Watson Renewed For Season 2 At CBS
Talk about a Holmes run: CBS has handed Watson an early Season 2 renewal.
The freshman procedural's pickup — announced Wednesday — comes exactly two months after the Morris Chestnut-led series premiered.
Debuting immediately following January's AFC Championship game, Watson's first episode has gone on to amass 18.7 million multi-platform viewers, making it CBS' most-watched scripted episode of the 2024-25 TV season.
TVLine readers gave the series premiere an average grade of "C+."
Season to date, Watson is averaging 6.8 million total viewers (with Live+7 playback), ranking No. 7 out of the 14 dramas that CBS has aired this TV season — trailing Tracker aka broadcast-TV's most-watched entertainment program, the freshman hit Matlock, FBI, the cancelled Blue Bloods, NCIS and Elsbeth.
Watson is set six months after the death of the titular doc's friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty. The cast also includes Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Inga Schlingmann, Ritchie Coster and Rochelle Aytes.
Watson's Season 2 green light leaves The Equalizer and Poppa's House as CBS' only remaining bubble shows.
