Welcome To Wrexham Renewed For Season 3, Coming To FX In Spring 2024
FX is game for more Welcome to Wrexham, renewing the soccer docuseries (socc-useries?) for a third season, TVLine has learned. It's expected to premiere sometime in spring 2024.
Welcome to Wrexham follows Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds across the pond as they work to restore Wrexham AFC, "one of the oldest and most storied football teams in history," to glory, according to FX's official synopsis. McElhenney and Reynolds purchased the team in 2020.
"The wild global success of Welcome to Wrexham is a testament to the courage and vision of Rob and Ryan, the dogged spirit of the Red Dragons, and the hope and devotion of the people of Wrexham," Nick Grad, FX's President of Entertainment, says in a statement. "It's a story that has only begun to be told and one that everyone can continue to follow along with in the third season. Our thanks to the creative team who captured these thrilling moments and everyone who achieved what seemed impossible only a short time ago."
The show's 15-episode second season concludes tonight (FX, 10/9c). Meanwhile, Season 1 is currently nominated for six Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards: Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Cinematography and Directing for a Reality Program, Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program, and Outstanding Sound Editing and Sound Mixing for a Nonfiction or Reality Program (Single or Multi-Camera).
