Mid-Century Modern: Can Nathan Lane Make Peace Between Linda Lavin And Pamela Adlon? (Exclusive Sneak Peek)
Mid-Century Modern is a show about family — the one you're born with, as well as the one you choose. Spoiler alert: they can both drive you crazy.
From Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, executive producer Ryan Murphy and director James Burrows, the Hulu comedy follows Bunny (Nathan Lane), Jerry (Matt Bomer) and Arthur (Nathan Lee Graham), a trio of longtime gay best friends who decide to cohabitate in Palm Springs. And because no Golden Girls-style comedy wouldn't be complete without a Sophia, the boys are also bunking with Bunny's mother Sybil (the late, great Linda Lavin).
Ahead of Mid-Century Modern's binge drop on Friday, March 28, we can also introduce you to Bunny's sister Mindy Schneiderman (Pamela Adlon), who recurs throughout the show's first season. Like any good sister and daughter, she knows exactly which of Bunny and Sybil's buttons to push — and she pushes them liberally.
Though Mindy only appears sporadically in the first 10 episodes, there's a good chance viewers will see more of her, should Hulu renew Mid-Century Modern for a second season. As previously revealed by the show's creators, Lavin's tragic passing is written into the season, making Mindy more compelled to visit — and occasionally irritate — her brother.
"Pamela Adlon is a brilliant actress and just a great fit for this show," Mutchnick tells TVLine. "We're hoping that, in the event we're lucky enough to come back, that she will come back with us."
