Friday Ratings: SmackDown Surges As The Rock Pays Surprise Visit

In the latest TV ratings, Fox's broadcast of the WWE's Friday Night SmackDown averaged 2.45 million total viewers, surging 24% week-to-week to match the event's best audience since Aug. 11.

In the demo, SmackDown was up 36% from last week, as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson paid a surprise visit.

Over on CBS, Niecy Nash's highly emotional (and pretty wonderful) Secret Celebrity Renovation drew 1.9 million total viewers and a 0.2 rating, down a tick in audience but steady in the demo. (A Blue Bloods rerun guest-starring the recently passed Jimmy Buffett drew 1.7 mil and a 0.1.)

ABC's new Soul of a Nation special about the Latin music revolution did 1.4 mil and a 0.1.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show's overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives.
