Drag Race's A-List Surprise Guest Steals The Show In Season 16 Rusical

RuPaul's Drag Race promised an exciting surprise guest in Episode 7, and the superstar in question did not disappoint.

While preparing the queens to dance (or in some cases fumble) their way through Season 16's Sound of Music-themed Rusical, choreographer Adam Shankman took a moment to introduce everyone to his assistant... Melissa McCarthy?!

"Sorry I'm late," The Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated actress announced as she sashayed onto the main stage with her arms full of dry cleaning and caffeinated drinks — the latter of which she spilled all over the floor before reminding the queens, "We all need a side hustle, ladies."

McCarthy proceeded to gag the queens during their already-stressful rehearsal. As Sapphira Cristál put it, "You expect me to now be learning choreography, and Melissa McCarthy is sitting 10 feet away from me? Baby, you've got to be out your mind!" It didn't help that she spent her entire visit pelting the girls with questions... and occasionally cheese.

Before parting ways with the queens, McCarthy shared this heartfelt message: "I just adore you all. I adore what you do. Drag is a big part of why I have a career. I was going to drag shows when I shouldn't have been, and it literally gave me the courage to get up on stage. I started in drag. I started in a big ol' red wig called Miss Y. So when I look at you fighting to carve out your space, it makes me so proud, and I just want to thank you for it and root for you. You're all gorgeous ladies, and I just love you."

But McCarthy's time on Drag Race didn't end there. She also lent her voice to the maxi challenge, providing the narration for The Sound of Rusic. Noted musical theater queen Plasma was unsurprisingly named this week's winner, while Mhi'ya Iman Le'Paige and Megami lip synced for their lives to the tune of "Flowers" by Miley "Why Are You Acting Like You Don't Know This Song?" Cyrus.
