Disney+ Drops Trailer For Bizarre Toy Story-Animated NFL Broadcast — Watch And Ponder Whether This Is Real

In news that will have you wondering if that Trader Joe's recalled food item is making you see things, Disney+ is teaming up with the NFL for a Toy Story-themed football game broadcast that is both live and fully animated. Yeah, you read that right.

On Sunday, Oct. 1 starting at 9:30 am ET, the Atlanta Falcons will face the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London, and Disney+ and ESPN+ will stream an alternate version of the game set in Toy Story protagonist Andy's room, featuring both teams transformed into live animations.

The broadcast, dubbed "Toy Story Funday Football," will allow fans to watch "every run, pass, score and all football-related action through state-of-the-art tracking technology enabled by the NFL's Next Gen Stats player tracking data and Beyond Sports," per Disney+. The announcers include Drew Carter on play-by-play, Booger McFarland serving as analyst and 12-year-old Pepper Persley acting as a reporter.

Viewers can also expect appearances from a bevy of Toy Story characters including Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep, Bullseye, Bunny, Ducky, Forky, Green Aliens, Jesse, Rex and Slinky Dog. Plus, Duke Caboom will perform a daring motorcycle stunt during a special halftime show presentation. Real-life players from both the Falcons and the Jaguars will get in on the animated action, too, with pre-recorded segments and interviews.

This will complement a regular presentation of the game, which will air live on local TV stations as well as ESPN+ and via mobile on NFL+. Chris Fowler, Dan Orlovsky, Louis Riddick and Laura Rutledge will call the game.
