Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Sets Premiere Month For Second And Final Season — Find Out Who's Joining The Cast
The end of "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" will begin in the spring.
Season 2 of the Paramount+ series — which was previously confirmed to be its final season — will premiere in March 2027, it was announced Saturday at the Star Trek franchise's New York Comic-Con panel. A more exact release timetable will be shared at a later date.
Additionally, Bill Nighy ("Living") and Rosemarie DeWitt ("The Staircase") have joined the sophomore season in guest-starring roles. Nighy will play Nyk Ake, the estranged father of Holly Hunter's Nahla, while DeWitt will play Laytha Sadal, mother of Tarima (Zoë Steiner) and First Lady of Betazed.

Paramount+ confirmed in March — less than two weeks after the "Starfleet Academy" Season 1 finale released — that the show would end with its second season.
"It's been my and Noga [Landau]'s joy and privilege to help carry Gene Roddenberry's extraordinary vision forward with 'Starfleet Academy,' thanks to the hundreds of hardworking humans who pour every ounce of their talents into the work daily with imagination and reverence," co-showrunner Alex Kurtzman said in a statement at the time. "We are in post-production now on what will be the second and final season. We're so proud of what we've accomplished together on this show, and the world will get to see the work of these extraordinary artists when Season 2 airs. We will finish strong." According to the official Season 2 synopsis, the final batch of episodes follows the Starfleet cadets into their second year aboard the USS Athena. "There, their ideals of leadership, friendship, romance, and morality are put to the test as they navigate budding rivalries, shaky diplomatic negotiations, a fiercely competitive schoolwide tournament, and the arrival of a mysterious new cadet whose existence raises questions that could have consequences far beyond the classroom," the logline reads.
