The latest addition to the "NCIS" franchise, "NCIS: New York" introduced Jacqueline Byers as Addison "Addy" Ross, but before she became an NCIS special agent, Byers worked with some seriously impressive Hollywood names in her previous projects.

As well as appearing on an episode of Guillermo del Toro's FX show, "The Strain," Byers had a regular role on the Showtime series "Roadies." Created by Cameron Crowe — known for writing and directing movies such as "Jerry Maguire," "Vanilla Sky," and "We Bought a Zoo" — "Roadies" was the writer-director's only original creation for television. The dramedy followed the lives of a group of roadies supporting a touring rock band, and also had legendary film director J.J. Abrams as an executive producer. Byers appeared as Natalie Shayne, a groupie banned from the band's shows due to her stalker-like behavior.

In the series' first episode, Byers' Natalie snuck past the roadies to get backstage at one of the band's gigs. She used some novelty sunglasses and flirted with a crew member before attempting to steal a microphone. Byers appeared in a total of seven episodes during the seires' single-season run. Following her time on the show, she went on to appear opposite "Doctor Who" star David Tennant in the horror-thriller "Bad Samaritan," starred on the CBS sci-fi series "Salvation," and appeared in the 2022 horror movie "Prey for the Devil" – all before joining the cast of "NCIS: New York."

The end of Roadies and the beginning of Jacqueline Byers' NCIS role

Despite featuring some big names behind the scenes, "Roadies" was canceled by Showtime after its first season. The series got off to a bumpy start and generally failed to impress critics, sealing its fate. It currently sits at a disappointing 35% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Following the cancellation, Cameron Crowe issued a statement on his blog. "Though we could tell a thousand more stories, this run ends with a complete ten-hour tale of music and love," Crowe wrote in a post in which he also thanked Showtime and Abrams "for the opportunity to make the one and only season of 'Roadies.'" Since the end of "Roadies," Crowe has not returned to television, but has worked on documentaries about the musicians Tom Petty and David Crosby. He is continuing to tell musicians' stories, writing and directing an as-yet-untitled Joni Mitchell biopic, which is currently in pre-production.

After a string of TV and film appearances following the end of "Roadies," Byers made her "NCIS: New York" debut in the October pilot episode, which established her as a core part of the team. The series follows LL Cool J's Agent Sam Hanna as he returns home to New York to lead a new team of agents. Alongside Byers' Addy Ross, the team includes Hanna's new partner Nick Schaeffer (Scott Caan), Wyatt Sellers (Shane Harper) and former hacker Sean Sullivan (Devin Druid).
