Diane Morgan has played two very different AI characters in 2026. The comedian starred as an AI carer in the British sitcom "Ann Droid" earlier this year, and Episode 6 of Disney+'s "VisionQuest" reveals that her Marvel character isn't human either.

Morgan first appears in the "VisionQuest" premiere as a new Marvel character, the Handler, a tech wizard assisting Paladin (Todd Stashwick) in tracking down and taking down Vision (Paul Bettany). In Episode 6, Paladin and the Handler finally corner Vision using his son as bait. But during the conversation, the Handler's connection is cut off, and she hears a menacing knock at the door. E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire), Vision's AI friend, then enters and reveals that the Handler has been a tactical AI all along.

Morgan also had a hand in bringing "Ann Droid" to life: She created the BBC One sitcom and co-wrote it with Sarah Kendall. The series follows an elderly woman, Sue (Sue Johnston), whose son dumps her with a pre-owned android carer she doesn't want. While Sue warms to the android, Linda (Morgan), the robot learns about human emotions to better care for her. Though it's a little different from the action-thriller Marvel series, both shows follow an android on a journey to become more human.

Ann Droid isn't available to stream in the U.S. yet

Fans of Diane Morgan's deadpan humor might be interested in "Ann Droid," which has received positive reviews but isn't readily available to U.S. viewers. The sci-fi series holds a 92% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, two percentage points higher than "VisionQuest," while both shows have the same audience score as of this writing.

Beyond its tech humor, "Ann Droid" tells an emotional story about older characters trying to find joy, meaning, and community after losing loved ones or growing apart from their children. It follows a recent trend of series and movies like "A Man on the Inside," "Only Murders in the Building," "Eleanor the Great," and "The Thursday Murder Club" that put older adults at the center of their stories rather than relegating them to supporting roles.

"Ann Droid" premiered on BBC One in July 2026. However, as of this writing, it hasn't aired on any U.S. channel or become available on a U.S. streaming platform. The series was renewed for a second season, though a U.S. release has yet to be announced.
