Vincent D'Onofrio isn't entirely certain that his days playing Kingpin will be over after "Daredevil: Born Again" concludes with Season 3 in 2027. The actor recently took to X to clarify some comments he made at London's MCM Comic Con concerning the "Daredevil: Born Again" main cast continuing to portray their characters after Season 3. "The question asked at the London comic con was, how do we feel about it being over," D'Onofrio wrote. "My answer was it's not over until they recast our characters. Which has not been done. So 'it' is not over until then. No matter if we do another project or not."

The demise of "Daredevil: Born Again" might come as a surprise for fans who celebrated Disney+'s revival of Netflix's "Daredevil," which was also axed after three seasons in 2018. D'Onofrio reacted to the cancellation news by sharing his appreciation for "Daredevil: Born Again" fans on X, adding, "I love that character Fisk. Always will. Off to another neck [of] the woods." Although no further appearances for the likes of D'Onofrio's Kingpin, Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page, and Jon Bernthal's Punisher have been confirmed, their recurring nature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe means they could show up anywhere at any time.

Charlie Cox is optimistic about playing Daredevil again

As it turns out, Vincent D'Onofrio isn't the only "Daredevil: Born Again" star who thinks his MCU tenure could last beyond Season 3. In an interview with Screen Rant, Charlie Cox didn't offer any definitive answers, but he expressed his optimism for Matt Murdock's return in a future project. "Do I think we have seen Matt for the last time? I honestly don't know, I'd hate to speculate, but I don't think so," he said. "I think there will be something, [it] might not be for a long time, but there are [ways] I think he will show up somehow, somewhere."

D'Onofrio and Cox's on-screen rivalry has enthralled MCU fans for over a decade now. Things got even more intense when Fisk became New York City's mayor in "Daredevil: Born Again." Now that he has stepped down following an explosive clash with Daredevil and his allies, D'Onofrio's Kingpin appears poised for one final showdown with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. We'll have to wait and see what happens after the third season has dropped. #SaveDaredevil is already a thing, but Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum has stressed that the best way to save the show is by watching it and adding to the viewership numbers.

"Daredevil: Born Again" Season 3 is slated to premiere on Disney+ in March 2027.
