NCIS: Origins' Austin Stowell Talks 'Her' Theories, Young Fornell, And Gibbs' Return From Kuwait (VIDEO)
Ever since Gibbs as narrator told us in the NCIS: Origins premiere that this is "a story I don't tell, this is the story of her," there's been much speculation about why he, across 19 years of NCIS, never so much as mentioned a Special Agent Lala Dominguez.
Origins star Austin Stowell, at the start of the TVLine video Q&A above, shares what he does (or, doesn't) know about "the story of her," and then confesses his own theory, and whether it holds water.
About a minute into the video, Stowell weighs in on co-star Mariel Molino's recent Instagram response to a fan who asked if Lala is falling for the NIS team's "probie," and how Gibbs sees himself as Lala's protector — if only as a means of coping with his inability to save wife Shannon and daughter Kelly from their sad fates.
At the 3:00 mark, we get to talking about the latest episode's reveal of a young Tobias Fornell (played by Lucas Dixon), and whether Gibbs himself will soon meet the taco-loving G-man who will emerge as a significant part of his later, NCIS years.
What has surprised Stowell about the NCIS: Origins experience, and taking on a role previously played by onetime NCIS front man Mark Harmon? "How much I love being Gibbs," he says at the 4:00 mark, before greatly elaborating on that sentiment.

Speaking of Harmon, is he swinging by the Paramount lot to record his lines of narration, or banking them at home while in PJs? Stowell shares his take on that at 5:30, and how hearing Harmon's words influence his portrayal of the younger Gibbs.
Stowell then gets to previewing the next new episode, airing Monday, Nov. 25, in which we flash back to Gibbs first coming home from Kuwait — to a tragically empty house — and meeting Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid) for the first time. We then close things out (at 8:30) with what's next for the evolving Gibbs/Lala dynamic, and Stowell's response to a TVLine reader question about Season 2!
