Eagles' Super Bowl Win Delivers Record Audience Of 127.7 Million; Halftime Show Also Hits All-Time High
Fox's Sunday-evening broadcast of the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl 59 win over the Kansas City Chiefs averaged 127.7 million viewers, Fox Sports reported in a Tuesday update.
That tally encompasses Fox, Fox Deportes, Tubi, Telemundo and NFL digital properties (including NFL+), and marks a record high for the Big Game — up 3% from last year.
Helping along that boffo Super Bowl LIX viewership were record-high streaming numbers via Tubi and NFL digital properties, which respectively accounted for 13.6 million and 900,000 viewers.
Fox Sports reports that the audience for the Eagles' 40-22 championship win peaked at 137.7 million from 8 to 8:15 pm ET, during the second quarter of the lop-sided affair (when the Chiefs were still putting up goose eggs).
This year's halftime show featuring Kendrick Lamar drew an average of 133.5 million viewers across television and digital platforms, also up +3% from last year to set its own record.
Last year, the Chiefs' 25-22 championship win — in only the second Super Bowl ever to go into overtime — averaged 123.7 million total viewers. On linear alone, CBS 2024 Super Bowl coverage drew 120.3 million viewers, which stands as the largest audience in history for a single network hosting the game.
Among Super Bowl Sunday's pre- and mid-game entertainment, Ledisi's performance of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" earned an average reader grade of "B," Trombone Shorty and Lauren Diagle's take on "America the Beautiful" drew a "B+," Jon Batiste's singing of the national anthem scored an "B-," and Kendrick Lamar's guest star-studded halftime show netted a "D-."
Following the Big Game this year was the Season 3 premiere of The Floor, hosted by Rob Lowe.
