Casting News: Darkwing Duck Revival At Disney+, All's Fair Adds To Season 2 Cast, And More

Disney+ is getting dangerous: The streamer is bringing back the classic '90s cartoon "Darkwing Duck" with an all-new animated series, TVLine has learned.

The all-star voice cast is led by "Star Wars" icon Mark Hamill, who will play Drake Mallard, aka the masked crimefighter known as Darkwing Duck. Seth Rogen ("Platonic") will play Launchpad McQuack, with Lizzy Caplan ("Party Down") as Gosalyn Mallard, Lilimar ("Bella and the Bulldogs") as Duckie, Dan Stevens ("Legion") as Glade McTowers, Tiffany Shepis ("Star Trek: Picard") as Rosa, and Kathryn Newton ("Big Little Lies") as Firecracker.

"For the last 35 years, Darkwing Duck has been trapped in his worst nightmare: an alternate world that's never heard of his superhero exploits," according to the official synopsis. "Now a rebellious teen named Duckie who knows all about his heroic past shows up to pull this ego-fueled vigilante back into battle. Together, this unlikely duo will get dangerous to fight old enemies like Negaduck and Megavolt and reunite with allies Launchpad, Gosalyn and Morgana to save the entire universe."

"Darkwing Duck" first aired in 1991 in syndication and on Saturday mornings on ABC and followed Drake Mallard, a suburban dad who fights crime as Darkwing Duck in a parody of superhero stories. (The character of Launchpad McQuack came over from Disney's earlier animated series "DuckTales.") The series ran for a total of three seasons and 91 episodes.    

• Hulu's "All's Fair" has added Brazilian actor and model Cauã Reymond to its Season 2 cast as a series regular, Deadline reports. No details on his role have been announced. Hulu renewed the Ryan Murphy-produced legal drama starring Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Glenn Close for a second season last November.
• Janeane Garofalo ("The Larry Sanders Show") will reunite with her "Reality Bites" co-star Ben Stiller in his new Apple TV comedy "Protective Custody," per Deadline. The series, also starring Benicio Del Toro, follows "a disgraced financier accused of massive fraud who is thrown into protective custody, where he must navigate prison politics, salvage his reputation and confront the consequences of his actions while awaiting trial."
• Charlie Hall ("Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed") will star in and co-write a new comedy in development at Netflix, according to Variety. The untitled series from "Barry" alum Alec Berg "will focus on a drug ring operating out of a college fraternity, loosely inspired by real events that recently transpired at Penn State University."
