America's Got Talent Season 21 Winner Revealed — Did The Right Act Win?

America, you've done it again. Wednesday's live finale of "America's Got Talent" brought Season 21 to a dramatic conclusion, ending with the reveal of a new "AGT" champion.

Following Tuesday's last live performance show, the season's remaining 10 acts — dancing dog group Acro Canine Crew, dance group Come Here, magician Geno Ploeger, magic group Hundred Fingers, singer Lai Noelle, rocker Nene Royal, dog act Olivia Befus, light-up performers Royal Lasers, robot dance group Unitree, and aerialist Veronika Goroshkova — returned on Wednesday to learn their fate.

Heading into Wednesday's finale, an overwhelming 57% of TVLine readers predicted that Nene Royal would be crowned at the end of the night, with Hundred Fingers (10%), Lai Noelle (8%), Geno Ploeger (8%), and Acro Canine Crew (5%) rounding out their expected Top 5. For what it's worth, our reader polls tend to be pretty accurate, having correctly predicted past "AGT" winners like Jessica Sanchez and Richard Goodall.

So, did the TVLine readers call it again? Let's get to the results. After drawing out the night as much as humanly possible, host Terry Crews finally made the first big announcement, revealing which acts America voted into the Top 5: Royal Lasers, Hundred Fingers, Veronika Goroshkova, Nene Royal, and Geno Ploeger.

Sadly, that meant it was the end of the road for five more fan favorites: Come Here, Olivia Befus, Lai Noelle, Unitree, and Acro Canine Crew.

In a surprising turn of events — and after making viewers wait through an agonizing commercial break — this Las Vegas-based aerialist was voted into the Top 5 over singing phenom Lai Noelle.

Unfortunately, the gravity-defying athlete could only fly so high on "America's Got Talent," finishing Season 21 in fifth place.

"You were so amazing," Sofia Vergara told Veronika Goroshkova after her elimination. "You worked so hard. Nothing stopped you. It was spectacular every single time you were on that stage, and the world is about to change for you, even if you didn't win."

The Las Vegas-based light-up dance crew was the first act to be sent through to the Top 5, much to disappointment of fellow dance group Come Here.

Considering he gave them his Golden Buzzer, Terry Crews was especially bummed to announce that Royal Lasers was finishing in fourth place.

"'AGT' has changed our lives," Cindy Reid-Bluhm said after getting the bad news. "It's the reason we're standing here. It's the reason we got married. ... Come see us in Vegas!"

Always a crowd pleaser, this South Korean dance crew was the second act to be sent through to the Top 5, besting dog act Olivia Befus.

Hundred Fingers was hoping to finish higher than third, but at least they got some good news from Howie Mandel: "I just want to say something," he said after they were eliminated. "Hundred Fingers, I am going to put my money where my mouth is ... you are going to be in Vegas! I'm going to produce you, I'm going to pay for it."

Geno Ploeger was another shoo-in for the Top 5, though it was practically a crime for "America's Got Talent" to cut to one of the Acro Canine Crew's dog members just before dropping the bad news.

The talented magician managed to make it to the final commercial break, but he came just short of the million-dollar grand prize.

It didn't come as a surprise when viral rocker Nene Royal was announced as this season's Top 5, though we'll admit, we wish it wasn't at the expense of Unitree. Hey, at least the robots weren't programmed to have emotions, so they can't feel disappointed, right?

Speaking of not feeling disappointed, Royal has plenty to celebrate after being crowned the winner of "America's Got Talent" Season 21.

"I'm very happy and emotional right now," she told Terry Crews as the gold confetti fell on her. "I just want to say thank you, and I love you guys for supporting me!"
