Newlyweds Trailer: Téa Leoni And Tim Daly Sprint Down The Aisle In NBC's New Fall Sitcom — Watch
Téa Leoni and Tim Daly aren't just married in real life — now they're playing a married couple on TV again, too.
NBC has released the official trailer for Leoni and Daly's new sitcom "Newlyweds" (premiering Friday, October 23 at 8:30 p.m.), and it introduces us to Jeanie (Leoni) and James (Daly), who meet on a blind date and are quickly talking marriage. "Dating is a young person's game," James points out: "We're a modern couple. We can do whatever we want." So when their rock-climbing instructor asks if they want to "get hitched," they both say, "I do." (He was talking about safety harnesses, though.)
They tie the knot in Vegas, but they come back down to earth when they face obstacles like James' nosy ex-wife, played by Jamie Lee Curtis ("If I say her name three times, she appears," James complains), and Jeanie's skeptical kids... who are kind of impressed by the new guy's house, actually. Plus, James has a kooky teaching assistant who ends up living with the couple — as if they didn't have enough problems.
The supporting cast is led by Jamie Lee Curtis
"Newlyweds" is billed as "a later-in-life love story about Jeanie (Téa Leoni), a free-spirited woman, and James (Tim Daly), a buttoned-up professor, who marry impetuously after a whirlwind courtship," according to the official description. "James only has eyes for Jeanie, but quickly learns that loving her means learning to love her sprawling, eccentric world of friends and family and vice versa."
Jamie Lee Curtis (who is also credited as co-creator) is a "very special guest star" as James' ex-wife Claudia, and the cast also includes Emma Meisel and Ignacio Diaz-Silverio as Jeanie's kids Poppy and Lolo, Bill O'Neill as teaching assistant Arvid, and Al Madrigal as James' divorced friend Dan.
Leoni and Daly both have NBC sitcom experience: She starred as tabloid photographer Nora Wilde on "The Naked Truth," while he played pilot Joe Hackett on the long-running comedy "Wings." They met on the set of CBS' "Madam Secretary," where they played husband and wife Henry and Elizabeth McCord, and got married in 2025.
