Matt Murdock Actor Charlie Cox Reacts To Daredevil: Born Again Cancellation
"Daredevil: Born Again" is officially ending with its third season, and Matt Murdock actor Charlie Cox knows that its cancelation is heartbreaking for audiences — especially those who mounted a campaign to save arguably the best Marvel Netflix TV show back in 2018. Cox was onstage at New York Comic Con to tease the upcoming season when he reacted to the show coming to an end.
"All I'll say is that I imagine the 'Save Daredevil' campaign will be gearing up for round two," Cox told the audience. "Listen, you don't want to invite the wrath of the 'Save Daredevil' people!" The Man Without Fear has survived being canceled before, and he appeared in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "She-Hulk" before getting his revival series on Disney+ in 2025. But Murdock's story will end for now with Season 3, which will find him behind bars after he unmasked himself as the vigilante to take Mayor Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) down.
At the NYCC panel, footage was reportedly screened, showing Murdock turning his prison uniform into a mask and wrist-wraps to take on a horde of other inmates. If this is the last time that Daredevil will be on our screens, then at least the show is also swinging for the fences with a "Defenders" reunion. Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones will all reprise their respective roles as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. But it's unclear if their return will continue past "Daredevil: Born Again" Season 3.
Charlie Cox's Daredevil: Born Again costars also reacted to the cancellation
Charlie Cox isn't the only actor to speak out on the news, with Vincent D'Onofrio writing on X, "We so enjoyed bringing ['Daredevil: Born Again'] to you all. You stuck with us and I like to think we stuck with you." D'Onofrio has become just as synonymous with the show as Cox's Daredevil thanks to Kingpin's complex character and backstory, and he also reprised his role in "Hawkeye" and "Echo."
For now, it's unclear how Kingpin will return in Season 3 since he was all but exiled from New York after coming to a bloody stalemate with Matt Murdock in the final episode, but set photos showed the actor on set sporting a large beard. Meanwhile, Deborah Ann Woll is also set to reprise her role as the tenacious Karen Page, and she showed her gratitude to fans following the cancellation announcement.
"Enjoy the last season, guys!" Woll wrote on Facebook. "We worked really hard on it. Grateful for you." Her post also included a sad face emoji, and many of the comments expressed heavy disappointment that one of the best Marvel TV shows is coming to an end. "Daredevil: Born Again" Season 3 will start streaming in March 2027, so there's still a little time until Matt Murdock says goodbye, again.
