Dexter: Resurrection's Michael C. Hall Teases Dexter's Reunion With Charley In Season 2: 'It'll Be A Mess'
Our favorite serial killer is in for a big surprise when "Dexter: Resurrection" Season 2 kicks off: Leon Prater's former head of security Charley Brown is returning with an offer Dexter can't refuse.
When the season begins (Friday, October 30 on Paramount+; watch the trailer here), Dexter's in a bit of a funk. He's circling a mid-life crisis when Charley surprises him with a partnership opportunity. While we can't reveal exactly what Uma Thurman's former enforcer brings to the table, we can say it will make him think twice about whether he can trust her — and potentially work with her. And since Prater's officially out of the picture, the cards have been reshuffled and anything is possible for an aging killer looking to get his groove back.
According to Michael C. Hall, Charley's return "exploits that new appetite he has to be seen."
"She's someone who is certainly a threat, but also someone who seemingly has some sort of knowing respect for what he does," the actor told TVLine Thursday following the show's New York Comic-Con panel. "He's never more vulnerable than when somebody is feeding a perhaps unacknowledged appetite he has, so he's susceptible to her charms."
While Dexter wrestles with whether he should get in bed with a former employee of Prater's, Harry, who Hall says is "the last person you think would advocate for him indulging in such a relationship," encourages him to accept her offer.
"Dexter is always backing himself into new corners and seeing if he can get out of them, and this is a new way to go about things, to welcome somebody in," the actor added. "Somebody who themselves is a killer — maybe not a killer in the way that Dexter is — but who knows what that's about. He's first and foremost about not getting caught, but he also is a bit of a thrill seeker and a daredevil, and her coming back on the scene gives him a chance to do things a different way. I think he's bored and he wants to try something new, and it'll be a mess. He's good at making messes and getting out of them. That's part of the fun of spending time with him."
What other faces are returning for Season 2?
In addition to Uma Thurman's Charley, Desmond Harrington (Joey Quinn) has been upped to series regular for Season 2. The actor began his run in Season 3 of the original series, and stayed on as a series regular through it's eighth and final season. He appeared in two episodes of "Resurrection" Season 1 as a guest star.
David Zayas will guest-star in Season 2, reprising his role of Detective Angel Batista. The actor was spotted in September shooting in Times Square alongside Hall. And while there's always hope on "Dexter" for a presumably dead character to survive, the original report indicated that Batista is, in fact, still dead.
Speaking of presumably dead, Krysten Ritter is also confirmed to be back for Season 2. Her character Mia LaPierre (aka Lady Vengeance) was supposedly murdered in prison last season. How she'll return remains under wraps for now.
