Ash Santos currently stars as Andrea Cruz in "Marshals," but she's been in much more than the Spencer Hudnut-created spinoff of "Yellowstone." In 2021, the rising star appeared in a limited series for Netflix starring Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes.

Titled "True Story," the series follows a comedian named Kid (Hart), who, on a tour stop in his hometown, gets pulled into a murder case — where he's initially unsure if he's the perpetrator. Santos played the role of Daphne, the dead woman who Kid wakes up next to in his bed, kicking off the dramatic spiral. However, there's much more to Daphne than meets the eye. Like the fact that her real name is Simone, she isn't dead, and she's actually the girlfriend of Kid's older brother, Carlton (Snipes). Yes, it was all an elaborate ruse to extort the star.

While speaking with Schön!, Santos opened up about her experience playing the cunning, manipulative character. "Daphne was so much fun to play because she's so different from who I am," Santos said during the interview. "She is ballsy... She's like a loose cannon." She continued, "Daphne was probably the funnest character I've played so far because I got to completely suspend myself."

What it was like for Ash Santos to work with Wesley Snipes and Kevin Hart

Ash Santos has carved out an impressive lane in Hollywood. In addition to "Marshals," Santos has appeared in "American Horror Story: Apocalypse," among several other roles. However, she still understood the star power of her "True Story" co-stars. "We're talking about two of the most famous men in the world, but you'd never know it when you're in a room with them," she told The Laterals about working with Wesley Snipes and Kevin Hart.

Santos was just as complimentary when discussing her initial impressions of Snipes and Hart during her profile with Schön! Although she was initially intimidated to be working with "two really iconic men," they were "grounded and humble" on set. "Kevin is who he is, whether he's on the stage doing standup or he's like shooting on set," she continued. "And Wesley — when he introduces himself to you, he'll bow. I'm just like, 'I've grown up watching you! I know your face so well, and you're bowing to me!'"
