9-1-1: Lone Star Officially Ending With Season 5 At Fox
The 126 has put out its last fire. 9-1-1: Lone Star will end with its upcoming fifth season, TVLine has confirmed, capping weeks of speculation that Season 5 would be the show's swan song.
While fans are sure to be disappointed by this turn of events, the writing has been on the wall for quite some time. Rumors have been swirling about a potential final season since June, following the announcement of original cast member Sierra McClain's departure as a series regular. Multiple cast members posted vague and/or cryptic messages on social media as they wrapped Season 5, strongly suggesting that they weren't expecting to reunite with their co-stars for a sixth season.
"From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin's 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television — Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear — for creating one of the most action-packed dramas anywhere," Fox President Michael Thorn said in a statement on Thursday. "Now in our final season of the show, we're set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres."
According to Deadline, which first broke the news, Lone Star is not expected to move to ABC following its run on Fox, as the mothership series previously did. But other 9-1-1 spinoffs are reportedly possible at ABC, with Las Vegas as a potential setting.
The 9-1-1: Lone Star cast includes Rob Lowe as Owen Strand, Ronen Rubinstein as TK Strand, Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder, Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani, Brian Michael Smith as Paul Strickland, Rafael Silva as Carlos Reyes, Julian Works as Mateo Chavez, Brianna Baker as Nancy Gillian, Gina Torres as Tommy Vega, and Kelsey and Skyler Yates as Tommy's twin daughters.
The show ended its fourth season in May 2023 with the bittersweet nuptials of longtime boyfriends TK and Carlos; the two-part finale began with the shocking murder of Carlos' father, a Texas Ranger, meaning both grooms were missing one parent as they swapped vows in front of their closest friends and family members.
The fifth and final season, spanning 12 episodes, begins Monday, Sept. 23, at 8/7c, with the series finale slated for early 2025.
